Re: MLB '10 The Show Game Update 3.1 (v1.12) Details (5-21-10)

Just had my first freeze in a Franchise game today. Mets (me) @ Rockies, top of 9th, one out and a runner on 1st. I go to lay down a sacrifice bunt and get clipped in the knee with the pitch. Right after the ball hits my batter, the game freezes with me ahead 4-2.

I restarted and simmed and wound up winning 3-1, so no big deal. I've played close to 50 games already between Exhibition and Franchise and this was the 1st freeze.

I'm loving the game, post-patch, by the way

Wow, I also had a seven game losing streak along with two shutouts. I finally had to sim a game just to stop the bleeding. The things i am noticing since the patch is that the PCI has had less effect on balls hit, the strike zone has become unreasonable, and errors have become way to frequent. I would say the strike zone has been the worst though because it has been impossible to pitch on the corners. The problem is that even on 0-2, 1-2 counts the computer is not even protecting the plate, but instead watching strike 3 called, ball #.

The PCI has been pretty bad too. Meat balls resulting in weak outs for about the last 12 games, and on the flip side the cpu pretty much putting everything in play, despite having the PCI no where near the pitch.

Maybe just the struggles of a franchise, but in playing about 40 games before the patch, these problems seemed to have increased significantly.

Re: MLB '10 The Show Game Update 3.1 (v1.12) Details (5-21-10)

Haven't read the whole thread, but I'm hating what this patch has done to my offense. I'm not a regular player, it had been 3 weeks since I last played a couple games in a row, having time to only play a game a week or so. After the patch, I had some free time, and so I started playing some games. The first couple games, my offense was non-existent except for some solo HR's, but I figured that was due to my timing being off on offense. After my timing was up to speed, I'm still having the same problems. It reminds me of last year's game where hitting was much harder that it is in this year's game, pre-patch at least.

I liked the more open offense that this year's game offered. I'm sure the hardcore guys who play the game a lot more than me wanted the offense to be harder, but for me it was perfect. I wish this game had options like the NHL series, where I can go and play the game the way it was before this patch.

It does seem like a lot of the little things have been fixed with the patch though. But for me, I don't play enough to really care about the little things, and I'm not a Ray's fan so the Tropicana field glitch didn't really affect me, so this patch has actually made the game worse for me. Then again, maybe the hitting isn't different at all, and it's just all in my head.

If you get used to using the left stick, hitting becomes easy. I got it set to All Star right now and I'm hittin' a lot, but I use that left stick and get the sweet spot on the ball. I'm gonna have to go up to Hall of Fame soon.

Do you play on rookie difficulty ?

It's all in your head. I play on two user controlled teams Red Sox and Pirates fantasy with the catch being every other draft round has to have a team connection until it runs out in the draft. I've had games with 15 to 20 hits and the next two games 4-5 hits and it makes little difference when I've gone from All-Star to Veteran hitting. I expect to hit better on Veteran hitting and I'm finding out I'm over anticipating missisng pitches by swinging early. It's either in my head or there really is a CPU/AI adjustment.

I also play historical exhibition with frequent lineup adjustments and get a variety of results often with sluggers wearing the collar. I love the variety of game results.

I was currently playing a while back with hitting-pitching difficulty at HOF. But pitching was still too easy so I bumped pitching to legend and it was a good for my taste. I was scoring roughly 5 runs a game... then the patch came and now I'm averaging 2 runs a game I mean WTH??

oww and how the errors have killed me it's now more frequent during the late innings. one of my last games I had a 2-0 lead 8 inning 2 outs runners at 2nd and 3rd... ground ball to the 3rd baseman YES I can get out of the inning!... WRONG! ball goes straight thorough the 1st baseman legs both runners scoring

I play on all star and use the left stick. I'll play a game today and if I still can't hit, I'll try moving it down to veteran.

Yea, try veteran. You said you're a casual player.
