This was my biggest issue with the game. But I still think it will not be the way I want it. I mean the skill stick is huge to them, so they want every body to be able to be A.O. out there!

I dunno guys...I think some of you are over blowing the problem a bit. Sure, not everyone should be able to do the same dekes...but really, there is a difference in the stars compared to the regulars in the success rate of the dekes.

Also, NHL 10 is the first game where players would lose pucks when attempting to carry the puck in too tight of turns...

and this was largely based on ratings.

I think a lot of people tend to forget that.

Not to say improvements aren't welcome, but I can tell a noticable difference in my stars as compared to my fourth line scrubs who often are next to useless in the offensive zone.

Also...

I feel like some people have sliders that make things easier to control the puck...then they complain that they never lose the puck because they never challenge themselves with a legitimate slider set.

People also tend to forget you don't need to be a star player in real life to make a nice stick move and score. Sure guys like A.O are better at it but its not like its this complex thing to deke and shoot a puck. Its all hand eye coordination not some god given gift.

True dat...

most NHLers when given the opportunity and space can pull off skill moves. There aren't any NHLers these days that aren't world class athletes.

Of course some players do it with more regularity because that is their role and they're given more opportunities on the PP and with higher skilled linemates...plus, like you said, they are better at it...

not the only ones who can do it though, by any means.

I think this is a huge part of it... I don't think you really start to see players losing the puck off their sticks like that until you really start to up the challenge. On all star I never saw it, but when I moved up to Superstar it started to happen a good, but reasonable amount

The problem I have when I step it up is that these things happen to me, but not the CPU. While I become worse, the CPU gets ridiculously less susceptible to mistakes.

That's my biggest issue too.
I loved seeing my lesser skilled players stumble with the puck when trying something too fancy. Unfortunately, it wasn't the same on the CPU's side.

So in that sense, not only do I want the CPU players to have the same limitations but I want the CPU to recognize each players strength's and weaknesses so it makes appropriate decisions based on that.
So a guy like Blair Betts is not going to try and carry the puck through 3 guys on route to the offensive zone. The CPU will notice that he has weaker puck and passing skill so he'll keep it simple.
Just like if the CPU recognizes that A.O. has the puck, it's going to try to force it deep into the offensive zone knowing he has the skills to do that.

Reading about a refined deking system has me geeked, as does this new physics engine. This has me extremely optimistic that these issues can be fixed.
With E3 around the corner, I can't wait to hear more news about NHL11.

Re: NHL 11 Screenshot: All-New Real-Time Physics Engine

So I was looking over the pictures in another thread - NHL 2011 Motto (from the gear given out photo):

"Every Moment Can Be A Wow Moment"

Sweet.

All that leads me to thinking is that I don't think we're going to see canned animations at all with this new physics engine!!!
