first person doesn't work because you can't judge your body in relation to the field and other players. irl you not only have perif vision, but also you feel your own body. We can't do that in videogames, so this tends to replicate it better than other options available.

If you want to be immersive and simulate to the gamer being on the field, it's just the best option imo we have at the moment. To me it's not disputable really since i've never seen or conceived of anything that would do a better job of realizing that goal.
To me it feels like I am playing with one eye closed. Sensory deprivation for the sake of sensory deprivation doesn't make it more realistic imo.

well to me the problem is that the cam isn't implemented well enough. Running for example, it's too low and needs to zoom out a touch, as well as transition smoother when you change directions (also a bit of a control issue).

The problem with this argument in general is no one can agree to what 'realism' means in a videogame. So although it isn't implemented well enough to really nail what they were going for, the concept of playing one person on the field via this cam option to me is more 'realistic'. That word could be replaced with simulating a one-man experience or other semantic changes.

I'm not sure what you mean by sensory deprivation. The sound is fantastic, and the view although not perfect by any means, certainly feels more like being in the shoes of one person than any traditional cam could do.

I think if this cam was tweaked enough to work extremely well it would please even the staunch traditional cam people. The problem for many is that it's a little too zoomed in and low and confuses them.

There's a reason even that FPS's like RB6V pulls to a 3rd person view while in cover. I just don't see how anyone could argue that a tradition cam implants the player with a more "realistic" experience of being on the field in terms of being one person.

The concept of delivering that with this camera I believe is correct - they just need to do it better.

the gist is you can't give someone THIS experience with a traditional camera, and we can see this in all the be a player modes in other sports titles.

Your not supposed to be able to see the entire field. You should be focused on your man and maybe the QB or RB. If you want to see more of the field play free safety.

On another note; I just got a bead on the rb coming out of the back field and blew him up with the strong safety. I was full speed in focus mode and the hit felt so freaking real.

I saw the QB turn right, the rb go right and then used focus and at the last few yards I went all out aggressive and BOOM!

Re: Backbreaker Demo Available, Post Your Impressions Here

The more I play, the major issues I was having with the camera seem to be get better. Just played a game where I ran tosses and sweeps almost exclusively since I was having problems on those plays. Broke off a 79 TD run on a sweep and a couple of other ones for 10 yards. I think my problem on those plays before was simply hitting RT too much/too early and not being patience enough more so than the camera

The control and camera could defiantly be tuned/tightened on outside runs ,but those plays aren't impossible to run by any stretch of the imagination.

Now if the CPU offense would just play more consistent. They have the occasional drive on me where they look fantastic only to follow it up with 2 ints into double coverage. Perfect example in the game I just played against Indy, they had one really good drive where they executed perfectly on me including their QB for a td. They even picked up the blitzes I called on that drive. Next two drives though there qb reverts back to an int machine and throws twice into double coverage for ints.

I honestly don't get the camera complaints on defense. I just stick with one guy the whole play and use LT to focus on the ball often , use RT occasional and I find the camera to be perfectly fine. In fact I love the camera on defense. Just read a play as a middle linebacker where I could see a draw developing, came in and crunched the rb. That felt really good.

Maybe I missed it, but has anyone figure out how to showboat in the Tackle Alley yet?

I love the camera. I like controlling the corner and when you make a tackle without switching its really rewarding. If they were to change the camera I think it should be to an actual forst person like in 2k5. That would be so fun when your in the trenches
