Mr May

I think you hit it right on the Head. For a 1st time developer of a "football" game this is a very impressive effort.

It does have its quirks, and yes, not being able to see the whole field is one of them. HOWEVER, you have to play this game like its own separate game and stop comparing it to Madden and 2k. Its not gonna be "better" than those games just yet.

I personally think someone, 2k/EA will lock up this Natural Motion engine and use it in their games. I think its perfect for sports video games and to truly represent a sport where there are unlimited variables you can not use "canned" animations because they will look "fake"

If madden added this engine and tweaked it to be more "sim" and less "arcade" style i really think it would work.

What is your point? You want 1st person then? Or you find the god view realistic where you can see a whole field at once while seeing whats coming from behind you??? Seriously what point are you trying to make?

I think the camera is in a sense more 'realistic' ... it's a better representation of controlling one player at a time on the field.

For example, I bought mlb 2k10 and played almost exclusively my player mode. It's just more satisfying to some to play as one person and up the immersion level.

As far as options, I'd agree, but to a certain extent I also believe when you do something new you have to kind of ram it down people's throats. And on the other hand, they still have to teak and massage THIS camera. So in that respect, had they added the god cam as it's known now, the present camera would be worse than it is now because of the time it takes to implement another angle.

So if this camera was already perfect like say for example UFC's camera work (it's so good people don't even mention it) than I would say yeah, add that. But as it stands their top priority is nailing this cam first and I would agree with that work-ethic. The better they can nail the present camera, the closer they are to realizing their vision.

When you do something different you have to go balls out and really try to nail it, otherwise you get a half-assed this and half-assed that.

I would like them to continue to work on this camera and get it silky smooth before worrying about pleasing the traditional camera crowd.

given the options available to simulate being a person on a sports playing field, so far it's the best representation. My player, be a pro, superstar etc.

first person doesn't work because you can't judge your body in relation to the field and other players. irl you not only have perif vision, but also you feel your own body. We can't do that in videogames, so this tends to replicate it better than other options available.

If you want to be immersive and simulate to the gamer being on the field, it's just the best option imo we have at the moment. To me it's not disputable really since i've never seen or conceived of anything that would do a better job of realizing that goal.

Re: Backbreaker Demo Available, Post Your Impressions Here

First impresssions.. Love the physics engine and graphics for the most part. I wish all Football games used this.. Really innovative for a football game.

Unfortunately I hated the Camera and there were a number of other things that were worrisome. Such as blockers standing around doing nothing, players sliding 3 or 4 yards on the ground. The player models were way too chunky/ robotic and the throwing animations are pretty awful.. But its the camera that will prevent me from buying this.

The problem with the cam is you cannot see quickly enough around you. The split second a human can look left or right cannot be duplicated in a game at this time. Not unless we are wearing 3D specs.

Considering how many people will not buy the game because of this, I think its wise that the Devs try to patch a "God Cam" view.
