I wish people would get off of their "this camera is for sim guys" high horse because your argument is totally invalid. You are playing a video game, so there will always be aspects about the game that aren't 100% like "real life" so that the game remains playable and fun. As I stated numerous times: "In real life receivers don't glow red when I look at them and my plays don't appear on the field when I push the right bumper." So please stop trying to take shots at others by acting like people who like this ignorantly named "God cam" are any less sim/hardcore than you are.

A game or gameplay style being "simulation" does not hinge on the camera being a certain way, there are alot of other factors that go in to making a game "simulation", and anyone who believes otherwise is borderline delusional. I guess I'm not a "sim player" and NBA 2K10 is not a "sim" basketball game because I play on the side camera instead of the one that goes up and down.....stop it people, please.
Actually God cam TREMENDOUSLY takes away from Sim value. A QB CANNOT see the entire field while playing. God cam is completely unrealistic. It is the most arcade aspect of Madden. I hope they dont change the camera view.

Don't expect BackBreaker to get a pass on it by providing the worst camera angle available and trying to pass it off as the 'best way to play the game'. I can't believe the company is willing to forgo $$$ to push a single camera angle game experience. Makes no business sense, or even game design sense for that matter.
Its a problem because people hate change. I accept change. I accept the challenge. Is this game perfect. Nope. Is the camera restricting. Yes. It was made this way. Big whup. God mode camera wont be in thos game. It has been stated. Im hopin they raise the camera up some BUT keep the general view because I respect NM's ambition. Thos game isnt meant to be like other sports titles.

That sums up my thoughts so far.
Actually, using FPS's as analogs works very well for backbreaker, since it's an action game, not a football game.

*shrug*

You completely missed the entire point I made in that post. I'm done debating this issue, people are going to blindly defend the game and miss valid points because they see what they want to, I can't change that and I'm not going to try. I honestly think some people just love using their typical OS pop culture words like "God Cam"....BTW, whatever happened to "earmuffs?" That one had some staying power.

Re: Backbreaker Demo Available, Post Your Impressions Here

Except they don't care about providing you any other camera angle because that's not the way they designed the game to play... When you make a conscious decision to do something at the start of the design process, you just can't patch it later and change it entirely. There are other football games for blimp view, this one is 3rd person. Just like their are 3PS shooters and FPS, and RTS games with base building and RTS games without it. They can't go in and retrofit base building into an RTS game that was designed not to have it, they can't go in and add 3PS to a game designed as an FPS. Reasons include changing the meta game, unfair advantages, exploits that become possible, etc...

Its really okay that the game isn't for you... no one says it has to be. There is no way this will draw in Madden numbers, and the devs know this. It's a first iteration football game, with its own issues, and an entirely different perspective.

Maybe Madden will innovate their engine when seeing this, maybe they'll consider it a gimmick. Who knows? All I know is I bought Madden 10 and sold it within 2 days because of how terrible it was (to me) when comparing to APF 2k8. As for Backbreaker, I'll be picking it up just because I'm no longer supporting Madden/NCAA franchises due to lack of innovation. Just like I don't buy food products with high fructose corn syrup in them...

Im not blindly defending anything.

Should GW3 have a God Cam??

The FACT is this game is going for a simulation style of football... God cam DOES NOT provide this sensation. That is a pure FACT plain and simple.

Madden isnt about simulation though they are about arcade. That is whey they dont use physics in their games also.

They are in a lose/lose situation. If they use the camera angle they chose, some people won't buy the game because of it. If they offer a "god" view, they are just another generic footbal game with cool tackles and no nfl teams or players and people won't buy it. They took what they felt was the lesser of the two evils and offered a completely new 3rd person experience.

Re: Backbreaker Demo Available, Post Your Impressions Here

lol...

This camera simulates what it's like to play football with a big neck brace on. I played and I remember being able to use my neck/eyes to see a lot of the field... but that's just me. It was easier without that friggin' neck roll. Maybe all BB players have that massive neck roll

I just think it's more about controlling a player on the field and less about strategy overall. That's fine. That's great for a video game experience, but it's not a strategic football experience in my opinion. To each their own. I'd love to see future versions of this game as the interactions are unparalleled.
