Re: 10 New Madden NFL 11 Screenshots

It should be pointed out that all of the nice cutscene shots are only being seen in correct view because it's on GameFlow. If GameFlow were turned off you'd still see the scenes being completely obstructed by the playcall screen. Surely, as the pictures here show, anyone can see how the obstruction not being there is obviously better.

The question is, did they listen and make the playcall screen situation something that can be buttoned up by the user on command like NCAA Football allows, or did they ignore this issue again? I just don't know why you'd design something that effectively negates your own work... makes no sense.

I don't understand why they don't just go the way of 2K and show the entire cutscene in a smaller window on the play selection screen if the user hits a button. Any insight there?

Yeah, but that would actually make sense.

What's stranger is that even in Madden 06 and 07, the cut scenes played full screen with no obstructions, and if you wanted to end it you pressed 'A' and the playcall screen came up. Their approach now just obstructs the view.

If they don't address this in Madden 11, I'm just going to give up even talking about it. For whatever reason they appear to want to rationalize bad design choices. I've yet to hear how covering up a cut scene makes an ounce of sense. You'd have to think that whoever captured the videos for example, did it with the understanding that it looks better when GameFlow is on since it doesn't obstruct the view. I don't think anyone can argue with the idea that those scenes in the shots we've seen look a lot better without the obstruction than it does with the obstruction.

Agreed. We'll see; I've got my fingers crossed. Keep fighting the good fight for us when/if you go back to EA, you've got all of our best interests as well as EA's in mind, even if they don't see it that way.

For the love of God EA can we please get FLAK JACKETS & RUNNING BACK PLATES? Please don't tell me you went another year without adding them. These are the two most common worn pieces of equipment in the NFL but yet they're not in Madden? Everything we see on Sunday right? NCAA has them so no excuse for Madden not to.
