I honestly feel that this series has the on ice gameplay nailed, but without capturing that authentic NHL "feel" (something I thought NBA Live 10 did a phenomenal job at), it will ultimately fail.
Agreed. If they spent a lot of time on a new physics engine and it feels and plays the same then people will have a right to complain if other areas are not improved (presentation, BAP, etc.)

However, I don't think NHL10 boasted perfect gameplay. There are still things in the EA series that have plagued it since 08. The biggest one is that they need to make player styles more prevalent. This includes skaters and goalies.

That screenshots looks like... ehm... NHL 07.

I just hope that they would make bigger changes into the game engine, player/arena models and presentation. Not just small gameplay fixes (and new leagues..) every year.

What exactly is a bigger change? I think new stick physics is pretty big since there might finally be a decent collision detection when it comes to the stick and the possible new puck physics. Whiffing on shots with a broken stick is finally a possibility or just weakened shots or rolling puck shots.

I believe that the Hawks player is also doing a lower hip check than any hip check in 10. He's nearly on the ice while in 10 from a few clips I've seen on EA the player barely bends half way down on a hip check.

Is Darius Kasparaitis going to be on the cover this year?
