A dominating D player should be feared. This isn't the case yet in Madden.
Not hating as I really liked the Madden 10 updrade and what I've seen so far in Madden 11. Just asking to get more of this in the game.

Couldn't agree more, I think we all thought that the "stretching" of the ratings was going to accomplish this, but it really didn't. It would be cool to see the superstars as true forces to be reckoned with in the game.

I think Naughty Dog has been quoted as having taken an 18 month development cycle for Uncharted 2. No offense to Madden, but the products are not on the same level and it's not like Uncharted 2 took forever to make. Although, one could argue that they got to use a lot from Uncharted 1 to make the second game, they also would have had to used a fairly large portion of their development cycle on writing, acting, creating brand new environments, etc.

Madden is improving, I just wish we'd see more drastic improvement.

Couldn't agree more.. This quote is key, "but still Madden is leaps and bounds behind them in every single way." Ya think? 5+ years ago 2k did things with their football game that Madden can only dream of doing today! 5! years ago! Yes they are improving, but how long does it really take? idk it really makes you question EA sports & Madden..

Animations still robotic, not fluid enough.

The more videos I see the more I feel I will not be purchasing this game.

The movements just look so off, and Im a animations whore

Now others will enjoy the game and they should. I just hate poor animations. It ruins the gameplay for me.

Well I hope for those that are excited about the game do not get disappointed and enjoy Madden when it releases.

Good Luck Guys!!!!

Also I saw this video earlier that someone put together and really has me hyped. I have a good feeling about this.

Re: Madden NFL 11 Video Preview (Xbox Live)

Madden has real issues again, no surprise there really...but what gives me some hope is that Backbreaker is going to show in-depth just how many shortcomings there are in the EA football engine (NCAA OR MADDEN!)...

Watching the videos on BB lately I see a lot of things that I already KNOW I am going to HATE in that game (F-UGLY player models, weird camera effects, that damn noise when a pass is thrown, the heartbeat in your helmet on running plays, etc., etc.); BUT I also see so many things that I always believed would be "next-gen" Madden back in the old days...

- new perspective for playing the game (I feel BB is a little TOO close, but I wanted Madden / NCAA to move down into the action more like ESPN Skycam for a long time...thought it would at least be a viable OPTION by now...)

- ball physics (reacting to arms and helmets, traveling through the air at realistic speeds and heights - ie. throwing OVER the damn LB and in front of the SS in cover-2 without super jumps or insanely low bullet passes)
- realistic shots of players stretching the ball without canned animations
- realistic "over-the-pile" dives (instead of feeble, single animation half-assed attempts)
- missed arm tackles (instead of players being "blocked" and unable to use their arms)
- multiple impact tackles reflected in the player models actually reacting accordingly (no warping or weird motion shifting)
- real sense of hits accounting for weight and momentum and speed at impact (no more guys just bouncing off or falling down because the animation dictates this outcome)
- real double team blocking ON PASS PLAYS...seriously, how can Madden and NCAA possibly have come THIS many iterations without ever addressing this???

- QB mechanics changed, FINALLY (don't know how well BB's passing game will work - again, I have serious doubts, but I LOVE the system of having the QB actually, you know, LOOK at the receiver before throwing it!)

The biggest disappointment, if I could only pick ONE this gen, would have to be the static nature of the passing game in Madden and NCAA. I have been playing this exact style for over a decade now and NOTHING changes.

RBs in the flats? still money....
Throwing off balance streaks to TEs and slot WRs? still money...
Rolling all over the field with fast QBs and still throwing strikes? still money...
Buying ridiculous amounts of time in the "pocket"? still money...
No ineligible man down field penalties? You get the idea...

I remember all too well the days before Madden NFL 06 came out on the XB360...the anticipation of getting a new generation of consoles and a brand new football experience.

I remember thinking back on the progression of football games from previous generations - Atari 2600 to Intellivision to NES Tecmo Bowl to the original Madden on Genesis to Joe Montana Sports Talk Football (wow...you mean he is giving actual play-byplay?!?! lol) to NFL Gameday on PS1 (still remember the lightning and thunder and rain games as being so much more than previous games!) to 2K on Dreamcast (actually saw this one for the first time before Christmas in a display window playing itself - Vikings vs. Cowboys...looked so REAL, so advanced at that time) to Madden on PS2 and XB1 (the height of the series and the last time the game really felt "new") - and thinking, DAMN...this is gonna be good!

I know that BB is not going to meet those expectations either...but maybe, just maybe, it will have enough gameplay in it, enough "fun" and enough people playing online to make it a worthy effort at starting to fulfill the promise of video football's lost generation....
