Re: Xbox Live Preview Madden 11

Phil Frazier = Jared Fogle

In all honesty, it does look better from the first preview that we saw from X-Play. I think it will be better to see it from an actual gameplay standpoint though rather than replay camera angles and such that show highlight moments. This is one of those "time will tell" processes.

The Henne throw looked really good. Lighting in the Seahawk clip looked great. The player interaction still looks pretty poor though; players noticeably warping/bouncing off multi-player interactions for tackles. The CB/WR interaction was really bad also. DE's still don't seem to get up the field in the brief clips. Game is still plagued with stiff transitional animations

Re: Xbox Live Preview Madden 11

I have listened to EA talking heads for years so I just skipped until a clipped popped up.

Not that many impressive clips. The toe drag in the endzone was good though. (although it has the bitter taste of I cant believe I am getting excited over something that has been in video football for 5 years.)

I did notice that there is still no impact deflection, The packers player broke 3 tackles and never flinched of the line he was running. And thats the second time I have seen that side juke that instantly makes a defender fall over even when the guy is already standing 2 inches from the ball carrier.

Also, there is still the very odd absences of Pro Tak tackles.

EDIT: In rewatching it I am really starting to be very concern about the lack of pro tak and here is why. At 1:39 Ronnie Brown rushes up the middle, does a spin move, then starts to get tackled....another Pats player meets him half way through this tackle animation and Ronnie is literally gets "passed off" to the next tackler. This results in him getting an extra 6 to 7 Yards!!!

What should be a double tackle that stops Ronnies progress becomes a extend tackle animation giving up extra yardage. Seriously....what the hell happened to pro tak?

The throw and catch looked nice, but what I didn't like was how easy it was for him to get outside of the pocket. He didn't throw on run though.

Whether or not Pro-tak is gone remains to be seen, however it is quite clear that gang tackles are not in any of the videos that have been released up to this point. I am no game developer, but is it truly that simple to code for something like Pro-tak late in a development cycle? Especially when you take into account how much of an impact the technology was said to have in Madden 10.

As I said in another thread, they could be tuning it till the game ships.

Re: Madden NFL 11 Video Preview (Xbox Live)

Wow go figure, this vid looks better than the last. Could it be because its a later build?

I wonder how many people this video pulled off the bridge.
