Wow, Machida's takedown is too much. This is definitely a problem. I'm afraid to see what they have for GSP.

Also, does anybody else notice that you can transition block without doing anything? Try it. Go to ground then just let go of your controller. You'll block at least one transition.

That's part of the game. It's to make the game look more natural rather then just throw a punch and waste 10 seconds blocking to see if they attempt a transition or not.

So what you're saying is that every time I get into a position on the ground, my first transition attempt will always be unsuccessful? That's ridiculous. I'll live with it but that's so dumb.

+1

I don't have as much a problem with his auto-takedown (without grapple block) against the CPU but against another human its like fighting GSP.. just constant takedowns because he is freakishly balanced to strike well and take people down at will.

I think I have more an issue with it at a conceptual level. Machida had done that sick judo-trip (did against thiago silva if I recall correctly) but as a fighter he is definitely closer to a striker (and an elite one) then a menacing takedown artist.

When I fight machida I want to have to protect my legs from kicks and watch out for lunging strikes and kicks. As it stands now he is more effective at takedowns then rashad, *especially* because there is no consequence for a failed takedown.. you throw him off and both end up at distance, as opposed to a failed double leg takedown which ends up with knees to the face or a dominant ground position.

between this and the omoplata escape by shogun I am worried that some of the 'unique moves' which give fighters character (think like nogs throw in 2009) might be a little unbalanced.

Well now I don't know what triggers those auto transition blocks. I let Shogun take me down to side control and he mounted me on the first try then I gave up my back on the first try. Maybe it's only in guard since it's so hard to pass.

No, it also effect half guard, side control, mount, etc. I know energy is a key factor. When the match just starts, it usually blocks 2 transitions and the 3rd works. Later on in the rounds though it becomes 1 or 2 blocked transitions and sometimes first try is successful.
