Re: Madden NFL 11 Exclusive Debut Trailer

I find Quicker. Simpler. Deeper. to be a funny marketing slogan. When I hear deeper, I'm looking for boots and a shovel, which definitely isn't the way you want to end your marketing message (your 'hook').

I suggested 'On the field. In the action' or something along those lines. That seems to be the goal this release (sadly), to streamline the experience, keeping the gamer in the game and less in the menus.

I honestly don't understand the decision to focus on streamlining the experience when they haven't gotten the experience down right yet. Feels like the cart is in front of the proverbial horse. We're going to make it easier to do something that doesn't quite work right yet. I'd much rather spend the extra time in the menus and play something that works. Their goal was to bring in the casual gamers though, not to make more realistic/sim game of football this release. That's not to say they aren't trying to make some aspects of it more realistic (such as locomotion), but it's easy to see that their ultimate goal was to engage casual gamers (GameFlow, Coach in Ear, Breaking down plays).

I can't quite fault them for making the game for the casual gamers. The game has really gotten too complex for casual gamers. Unfortunately the casual gamers needs don't meet this gamers needs.

Instead of shortening the length of a game by giving us "Gameflow", why can't we just have in-game saves?! It would solve the problem!

That's what the fans asked for... and it's not 'innovative'.

Re: Madden NFL 11 Exclusive Debut Trailer

No wonder Ian left. This game looks good to me, all of the new user controls...sideline catches seem to work. Better presentation (just from what I saw in 2 videos) The RB doesnt run stiff. The QB has to actually plant his feet after he runs in the backfield, no more run turn and chuck..... Dude i dont care what you guys say you are personally attacking the devs when you say that a game that they work hard all year on is trash. You must be madden haters 4real. I can see all of the great things they have added to the game...... Not to mention 3 vs 3 online play, or the new scripting plays, or the new game flow. Keep yo head up Ian. I can tell all of the great work you have put in in only 2 years. People still see David O. as the head dev.... Ian has done in 2 years more than David did in a lifetime.

This statement hold truth. I just wish they wouldn't come out every year and claim that things are going to be so much better than the year before. Instead, they should say that they are making improvements and hope that we like them. Then, if most of us hate the improvements or lackthereof, then they should seriously rethink using the current engines they are running right now in both NCAA and Madden football games. I used to love Madden NFL games back in the 1990's and Madden 05 is the only in the current decade worth playing IMO.

They need to listen to our concerns and nail them down to a wall while they are developing Madden 12. Even if they did implement a physics based behavior engine and some things were left out, most of us would be fine with that if the gameplay was nailed down. They would have to build from the ground up and I am 100% fine with that idea.

What if we will have in-game saves?

Not everything has been released yet.

They never said that the gameflow feature has anything to do with shortening the game. Gameflow is just like ask madden per se...but with real life teams plays that they run in that time of the game...As to shortening games they never said how they went about doing that so you never know. But they did say that you would still get the same amount of time playing ON FIELD

Re: Madden NFL 11 Exclusive Debut Trailer

Sorry but this looked absolutely terrible. I would be ashamed if I worked on this game and that trailer came out...The "Simpler. Quicker. Deeper" slogan is a joke. It's a videogame, stop trying to make it so noob-friendly. There should be a learning curve with ALL videogames. Madden's selling point is to accomodate the game to 5 year olds? Good luck with that.
