Re: Madden NFL 11 Exclusive Debut Trailer

^^^ where does everyone get this idea from??? I don't know any casual Madden gamers, no one who want to play online (unless online franchise works well and has no major issues)

The casual gamer wants simplified controls that make sense and to feel like they are in control of the on field moves - for those of us with stick skills the new running controls will be cool, for casual gamers you just lost more than you will gain cuz they gotta learn new controls again!!!

If you play Madden at all, you put time in playing! You have to in order to learn the controls and what EA messed up from the previous year - casual gamers are not buying this game - period - they rent it or play at a buddies house!

I know a ton of casual gamers and they are not playing sports games! I know a ton of heavy gamers and most of them don't play Madden, Madden has a unique following and very few of its population fall into the casual gamer role. At least not in terms of Madden - they might be casual other gamers, but most Madden players are spending lots of time online in tourneys or glitching their way onto the leader boards or they are playing franchise mode for hours on end!

The casual gamers that I know - don't have time to learn how to play Madden because football is inherently complex and the controls are so damn confusing - most would still play if they had left the legacy gen controls, but even then they are not buying the game!

EA needs to get a clue. Online will be improved automatically by fixing core game play issues. Franchise mode, stat engine fixes, OL vs DL, WR vs DB corrections will drastically improve sales within the fan base, and old school controls that make logical sense will maybe bring back some of the "casuals" they lost.

Anyone here play Team Fortress 2 on the PC? Have you ever seen the Scout class run at the end of a losing round? Or even just the high stepping taunt where he says: "I'm not even winded." That's exactly what the high stepping run looks like.

I love the 49 yard non repeating run, but everything else needs to gel with that animation. And it really doesn't. It's all pieced together and the end result doesn't look natural at all.

Re: Madden NFL 11 Exclusive Debut Trailer

OL/DL....same as it ever was, maybe even regressed a little in the examples shown.

WR/DB...yup, go back and look again...that WAS a DB bouncing off the tackle and dropping like a bowling pin, something that Ian talked about removing from the game 3 YEARS AGO!!

Animations...still herky-jerky transitions and foot pinning issues that make the players skip frames and appear to be floating.

Double-team blocking...saw a couple I think...not mind blowing, but maybe the one positive to take from this other than a few new jazzy-looking shots of the huddles for playcalling?

Overall? Epic Fail AGAIN! Last year's debut trailer was a disaster too...

Madden 10 and Madden 11 will have differences based mainly on how long it takes guys to figure out how to abuse the hell out of the player movements on the sticks instead of being mapped to buttons.

Really does look like more of the same...the score of the game in that clip on the last page? Yup...thats no typo...Colts 49 Saints 45 at the 2:00 warning...sounds like just about every other damn game I play online...

If you don't care about the "fluff" then again, why just base the game off a trailer mainly showing of the "fluff" (in your opinion) feature? What you wanted to see wasn't the main focus of the trailer.

That would be like me basing NFL 2k5 as a whole by seeing a video talking about "The Crib" feature lol (not saying that gameflow is fluff... but yeah... just don't get how people are making complete final judgements based on just this "gameflow trailer").
If you think the game is going to be "drastically" different then what was shown,I don't know what to tell you.
I know you like to spin everything negative towards Madden into a positive, and that's fine with me,but to say that I can't "judge this game off of one trailer" is being utterly ridiculous.

Like I said (which you conveniently dodged) until the proper fundamentals are properly implemented, these "features" are (to me) worthless.
If someone is more turned on by features, then their the ones that will eat this type of stuff up...I'm not one of those people.

Whether you choose to believe it or not, every year the proper fundamentals are "glossed" over in favor of "features" and "fluff"...if you have any problem believing that...look at the past,in this case the past doesn't lie.

Well after the way Ian and his crew got treated last year by a hand full of people. How can you blame him for not wanting to come here again and take the abuse from people who get to personal.

Overall this has been a disappointing day. 1st EA decides not to give us Rookie Screenshots (which is the only reason I follow EA on draft day). Getting rookie ratings do nothing for me because ratings don't mean much in Madden. Until EA proves that they can make a physic based game where ratings truely matter & not just some animation based game that lets animations determine the outcome, then ratings don't mean anything. Then to top the day off we get this disappointing debut trailer. I consider draft day the official start to anticipating the upcoming football season & this was a disappointing way to start.

Re: Madden NFL 11 Exclusive Debut Trailer

I said after the NCAA vid, all I would need is to see this trailer and it would be all I need to see. Madden will be a no buy for the first time in 10 years.
