Pre-hype hysteria

Dev diary - blogs etc

Community proclaims beST GamE eVah!!

Subpar videos released

Community proclaims they are alpha builds, not to panic

Same members get the game early and proclaim beST GamE eVah again...released game is nothing like the videos

Hype resumes full throttle

2000 post thread on "When and where did you get it " thread

Rest of forum gets the game and notices game is exact same as video / demo etc that was reported to be " alpha build " video.

The folks that get the game earlier finally admit that maybe in their excitement they exaggerated about the game being improved.

600 post thread on "Bugs and Glitches thread"

500 post thread on " What should be in patch 1 and 2 thread "

200 post thread started on " Wishlist for 2012"

" Im done with EA and their fooball games and not buying another one" threads pop up and get locked "

Repeat cycle and just change the year.

It never fails, every year this is the pattern. Its as sure as the sun rising every morning.
Crown this man! Heck, make this post a *sticky*

That cycle could be true of most games though. Heck, read any game magazine from 5 years ago and you will see the same pattern.

MOST GAMES? Most games aren't made year after year. Most games improve on their flaws.

The hype, the honeymoo period, the bugs, the list of wishlist on the next game, the inevitable disappointment, nearly everything on that list applies to any game, be it an annual release or a brand new title.

Although I wasn't "wowed" by the vid I'm still not going to avoid this game simply because a WR didn't plant his foot in the ground while doing an out pattern. I can live with the results as I think this is the biggest improvement in one year for the series. Then again, there's nothing to really compare it to.

Not exactly.. the Show and NHL series don't follow that trend. Oddly, those two franchises are always up for sports game of the year.

Having hope is the cruelest fate of all. Let your hope go and embrace the game for what it is. Or simply give up on it altogether. A lot of you would be a lot happier I think.

I agree.

It's late April, The demo drops in June and the game comes out on July 13th.

This game is probably about 70%-75% complete, and I may be being conservative. To expect much of an upgrade over what we are seeing now, is setting yourself up for release date anger.
