Umm, okay. Whatever. I could argue semantics with you all day, I suppose, but I don't think it would go anywhere. You keep blindly worshiping at the altar of Backbreaker, I'll keep my common sense and rationality to myself, since it obviously has no place in this section of the forums.

Re: Backbreaker Conference Call

I have seen alot more people bashing the game with the generic blitz comment or tech demo comment than people acting like it will be the greatest game ever. The general opinion among the people supporting the game seems to be more the game should be fun with some flaws rather than anybody calling it the greatest game ever. Not saying I haven't seen a little bit of that but generally the people looking forward to the game seem to be mostly level headed expecting a fun game with flaws, while I see far more people bashing the game without using a lot of logic. Saying it is NFL Blitz when there isn't much to indicate that is an example.

It is possible to be critical of the game without bashing it as well, I have pointed out some things I didn't like in the videos, but that is different than leaving a generic "NFL Blitz" or "tech demo" comment in every thread.

Didn't the devs say it was running at 60 somewhere if I am not mistaken?
i'm pretty sure I heard that as well. Something about the game processing at animations 90fps but actually playing at 60fps? Does that make sense?

I think it runs at 30fps, but only because it has ALOT of effects going on.... 3D grass, High Res and Big Player Models, HDR lighting, Motion Blur during gameplay, and much more....

but since it has these effects with the 30fps, it seems smoother.

although I think the original Tackle Ally clips were 60fps....but as development continued and they added more players on the field and just more stuff they probably had to lower it. Especially when they implemented splitscreen multiplayer.

I had no problem with Madden 07 when it had most of those effects but ran at 30fps...but after 07 they took all those effects out to reach 60fps....sure it looked smooth, but the animations seemed off.

this is what I used to think....but after watching the newer clips, it doesn't seem that way.

I think it's 30fps gameplay but maybe 60fps for the tackles...

NM has said in the past that they were going to have 90fps for tackling, but that was a couple of years ago.

I think things had to be changed.

again, it looks smooth because it seems locked at 30fps with effects like motion blur.
games like Uncharted 2 and Motorstorm PR are not 60fps but still look smooth because of the motion blur.

Re: Backbreaker Conference Call

Long as it runs smoothly (360). Thanks.

Anyways, this is no different than the Madden forums. Some folks don't like to hear any criticism for games, especially when they have such high hopes. Chill out, its just video games.
Not expecting BB to be great, i just want it to be solid, cause I'll support it regardless, i can afford to. In then end it better for all three football games.

Re: Backbreaker Conference Call

Backbreaker will function similar to the introduction of the iPod into the music industry.

The first edition was very simple and lacked features. But the one thing it could do, it did very well. The next few years will introduce injuries, fatigue, etc. These are all secondary to gameplay, unlike EA Sports games.

If the first iPod had a camera and a touch screen but no music player, it would've probably sold very well due to what I call 'fanboys'... They/You buy whatever their corporate daddy's put on their/your plate and, in turn, they/you are completely happy. This sums up Madden/NCAA's success... coupled with a cutthroat corporate strategy.

I'm sure BB will be firing on all cylinders by the time EA's exclusive contract with the NFL expires... At least I hope... When does it expire?... Does it have an expiration date?

2012. It would give Backbreaker a 2 year developement cycle for a sequel. Hopefully the NFL will reconsider exclusivity since 2k also seems poised to make an attempt at paying for the license that year.
