Re: NCAA Football 11 Video: Gameplay Footage

couple of questions regarding this video. Just curious, because it's not EA's style to put out a video with no commentary or trailer type video. I checked every web link EA has (inside blog, official website, tweeter, EA youtube channel) no signs of any explanation or acknowledgment for the release of this video. Was this an OS exclusive. Was this meant for us to view in this fashion?

The reason i say this is because in the video there were couple of clips like the florida QB scramble and throw had all the elements of locomotion in it and then it had the other extreme of no locomotion at all in other clips. It can't be that extreme to the other in the same game, can it??

From all indication from CDJ over at NCAA strategies. I think this might be a very early build, and some issue might have been resolved. Personally i am disappointed but I think it will still be a good game.

We're planning on recording a new podcast tonight and we'll probably spend a few minutes on the vid.

Personally, I don't care for it. People do not play the game at this angle, it shows off animations more than gameplay (or even locomotion), and with the "game speed slider" (as it was called/revealed in the most recent dev chat) certain animations will look better than others at different game speeds.

I'm guessing they are playing the game on default difficulty (Varsity), so hopefully that explains some of the oddities like QB accuracy on the move, breaking tackles, spin effectiveness, etc.

Overall though, I don't care for these kind of videos and I can see where it's a buzzkill for some. Personally, I think that will change when more game & gameplay features are announced along with real gameplay footage. At a zoomed in level like this and showing off "big" plays, most games & animations are going to be considered questionable at best.

With it containing the Clemson-SC vid from the first screenshot, I wonder how old this video is. I thought the game looked better in person than this video shows

I think the player models are much improved....Hopefully this is an early build because some of the things I would like to see fixed...

1) Animations still look wonky
2) The new lighting is awesome but the sun washes out some of the helmets (Ole Miss QB in the vid)
3) ND helmets look dull...Need to appear more metallic

Overall, I think it looks good for an early video....

I thinking its a slider to make gameplay as a whole slower, not the gap between the highest and lowest speed ratings more or less

You're obviously in denial

The player models look awful. Worse than last year IMO. They look like they're from NFL blitz. These are college kids right? Ew...

Animations look kind of good, kind of bad. The QB scramble is cool, but then he just puts his head down and scrambles like a running back, then looks up to throw somehow knowing where a WR is. Eh.

I'm unimpressed. Sure, it's early, but... certainly disappointed so far.

We'd all go with the Nissan. In our case, the Nissan is 2k, while EA's football engine is the Toyota. Adding something new to a formula already broken is not how you fix things. You must correct the basics and get it up to date before you can add in all the extra things.
I feel u but there is financial thing to it, as well. Developing A WHOLE NEW FOOTBALL ENGINE, which I think is what they need due to deep rooted issues that date back to the PS2 and possibly the PS1 (CPU timeouts at the 1 min mark in the 4th quarter, when down and on D, is a classic coding that STILL exists after over a decade), is NOT a simple task.

Unless they have something cooking in the wings that we are not aware of so they DON'T have to pull their product off the market for a few years (yes, YEARS. we're talking about a completely new engine, not just new tech) and lose crazy money, they keep working with what they have which doesn't seem to be that flexible of an engine.
They are NOT going to stop a cash cow like Madden for ANYBODY as EA's stocks would take and incredible drop that would make your head spin, as well. U gotta understand the business side of it, as well. It's just not a simple thing, at all, from fixing the issues in the engine to completely re-doing the engine.

I dont like the footwork it looks horrible but some improvements were welcomed, they look like baby strides and they are floating. The running looks very stiff
