Yeah, you are right, I crossed the line on that one. I was being a smart *** and it's a completely false comment. I apologize for that and won't let it happen again.

I would for sure expect an infraction or a ban for stuff like that, but i would also beg that you don't ban me heh.

Same here. I bought The Show on release day, but only because I can't help myself. At this point I know I'm going to have to wait a minimum of a month to sink my teeth into a sports game because all I play is franchise/dynasty mode and that's always what is messed up the most.

Like I said, thank god for FIFA Ultimate Team.

It does suck to feel like you're a beta tester when it comes to the most in-depth mode in a game (are you listening NCAA Football guys?), but as has also been stated, I think we just need to live with it because it's not changing any time soon.

About the only thing that might change it is if the sales for the game in the first month or two dropped dramatically while people waited for the patch(es). But then there would be fewer of us testing everything and letting them know what's wrong.

In short, a bit of a lose-lose-then-win for all of us.

That's my biggest beef with the MLB10 release. Every previous release always made improvements (all around, NOT just graphically). Then MLB10 comes out and I am guessing they had to rebuild the game from the ground up with a new graphics engine because a lot of fundamental things from managing to simple player ratings were buggy or just forgotten.

I love this game series, but I loved High Heat too... until they took their game and went in the arcade direction and left realistic baseball aspects behind. And even if I had a change of heart with High Heat, before I could the franchise went under and out of business.

MLB The Show series sets expectations, as does every big game franchise. While sometimes new additions or modes are added to big name franchise that receive less than desirable welcomes, these franchises rarely detract from their original game, or create more bugs in their base engine with new releases.

I have doubts that MLB controls when a company can release a game. I can understand setting an earliest release date, but refuse to believe companies have a small window with which to release a baseball game....all because of MLB licensing. That would be absurd.

MLB has no control over software, only team/league names and logos. Not even players...the MLBPA has control over those guys. So a software company should have freedom to release a game at anytime they wish...provided they don't use older or newer logos upon their MLB licensing agreement.

I actually remember reading somewhere(not online) that the leagues...MLB, NFL, NHL,NBA... do set the release dates for their respective games. Thats why I believe you see the sports that have more than one like MLB,NHL and NBA come out the same day. I just can't remember where I read it.

Really at the end of the day this is all subjective. Most people have been happy with the workarounds, and credit should be given to all the people who tested and worked on them. Some people have not been happy with them, so for them the game is bad, or unplayable, or whatever.

For me, though, my biggest problem has been a different issue in the franchise mode. The one that's been mentioned 4 or 5 times on here, where the franchise simply won't play past a certain date. I've had it occur on May 31 and July 25, both in the first year. It seems to happen after I make some roster moves, I think probably moving players in and out of Class-A. I try to sim the current day and it just sits there, does nothing. Until I press circle (cancel button), then I can move around the dates again. But the games haven't been simmed. I can enter the date and manually sim my team's games down through AA, but still can't get the computer games to sim, so can't get past the date.

Thoughts?

It might seem absurd, but if Pared says it's so I'm inclined t believe him.

As for the game itself, it's been talked about over and over that these days sports games are not made with the hardcore franchise player in mind. You can dispute that all you want, but the fact of the matter is that every game from Madden, to The Show, to FIFA and everything in between has been plagued by more issues in their various franchise/dynasty modes than anywhere else.

What counts in terms of sales is how the game looks and how it plays on the field, period. The Show stands above almost every other game, regardless of sport, because it is downright gorgeous and the gameplay is rewarding and fun for all levels of gamers. Mission accomplished if you're SCEA.

Yeah, it's a truly great thing that the SCEA guys take the time to come here and listen to us moan and complain about what's wrong with the product they slaved over for the better part of a year. However, if there's one refrain I hear from people rushing to their defense is that their hands are tied to a certain extent because of development cycle and other top-down issues. That's fine, that's not on them. All we can hope is that when the dust settles that they'll be able to fix enough of the potentially game-killing issues.

Expecting anything more, I've learned, it pointless and frustrating.

If MLB puts pre-requirements in their agreements to software companies that they are only allowed to use their logos/names if an only if they release games on a certain date... well, that's petty on MLB's part.

What does the MLBPA have to say about it? They own half the game's rights representing every player in the game? (now that Bonds is no longer playing )

I really hope The Show doesn't start sacrificing franchise play for graphics. I'd have to drop The Show like I dropped Madden 3 years ago.
