Whoa!!! I never see Roadman go against EA. Peter Moore has really messed up now.

As much as I hate the comments Peter Moore made, I'm not gonna sit here and say that I'm not gonna buy the game because, well to be honest, I probably am. Like I said earlier, this is really like a slap in the face, but hey, what can you do? If I want to play with the Raiders, I have to play madden. I know once football season get's closer, I'm gonna start getting that itch again. Unless Backbreaker is truly ground breaking, I'm probably gonna be picking up Madden 11. A lot of you are as well. Don't kid yourself. Djordan was right. Some of you will even pick it up at midnight lol. As soon as Ian and the crew start doing there blogs and stuff you all will forget all about this and start getting on board the hype train. Let's not kid ourselves and sit here and say that we're not going to buy Madden 11 because of these comments. If it's a great game....you're gonna buy it. Now if it's a crappy game and you don't buy it because of that, that's one thing, but if it's a great game, no one here is gonna NOT buy it because Peter Moore said this.

If gamers are trading in a sports title 4 weeks into the regular season, it might have something to do with the games quality. Maybe that's where EA should focus it's efforts, not on how they can take further advantage of their customers.
I hear you man. It's definitely tasteless.

Depends on what's being held out.

It could fix all the problems, but if I have to pay for roster updates or to get extra franchise features that should be a part of the mode anyway (say you have to pay if you want training camps or multiple progressions throughout the year) - then no, I won't be buying it. I have skipped Madden before, I can do so again and go back to text-sim (that Pro Football Simulator looks interesting and there's FOF or Football Mogul), or just play HC more. If people can still play APF2008 or NFL2K5 - I can play HC 09.

I'm not going to pay $60+whatever else to get features that should be a part of the game from the start.

I agree with what you have said, but Madden hasn't been great in a long time. There are many other options to buying games other than release day and a $60.00+ price tag. I will never buy another game from EA on release day and I will wait untill ALL patches are released for the game. I think this is what is hurting EA and the wigs are trying to find ways to work around this, hence the "not trading games in" remark. Madden 10 was my first Madden purchase since 06, granted I played the game during those years but I never bought the game. 10 was a great improvement but it took 6 months for EA to get a final patch out and that is just unacceptable.

Madden 11 is different. Madden 10 was the game that was gonna change the direction of the franchise. Even with developer interaction and a focus on the core of football, Madden 10 is still terrribly flawed. I was already at zero excitement for Madden 11 because the only thing Madden 10 did for me is convince me that the flaws in this game are so deep I'll probably never enjoy Madden on this system.

Add these comments to that and if Backbreaker is solid, come May 18th, I won't even be following this game this year. I guarantee Madden will not be purchased new by me and it will take twice the improvements from 09-10 to get me to buy it used.

I didn't really take the comments to mean that they were going to start leaving things out so they can get people to pay for them later. I took it as they were trying to find more things they can add in to charge you for ie more uniforms, more stadiums, more cheats, etc. I think the core game will still be there. I definitely don't think they would charge for roster updates. The whole purpose was to keep people from trading games in. If people couldn't get their roster updates, the game would become pretty much useless halfway through the season when the surprise teams were showing up. It would really suck if the Raiders had a 10-0 record in real life , but you had to play with the default rosters that shipped with the game. Without a doubt, I'd trade it in( I never buy DLC for ANY game). I'm sure many others would do the same. In turn, it would defeat the purpose of trying to get people to pay for it, because people would trade in the game because of it. SO, I think the core game will still be there. I just think there will be more DLC nonsense. I didn't have a problem with that part of the comment. The problem I had with the comments had to do with the "taking advantage of" part.

I agree and this is the approach that I'm taking this year. I stood in line at midnight to pick up 10 ( the first time since 05 on the PS2) and I'm not doing it again. For the first time ever, I'm gonna wait a few weeks and see what the complaints are and then see what the patches will entail. EA has not lost me yet, but they are losing me and just like KJcheezhead, if backbreaker is good, all of this may be moot anyway.
