I can't believe the Marlins got screwed again. They had the 5th best record in the NL, doesn't that count for anything

Re: MLB '10: The Show Official Team Ratings and Explanation

Reds at 19th overall makes sense, but 19th in fielding is laughable. They were 4th in MLB in DER last year (defensive efficiency rating) and are only poised to improve with full seasons from Rolen and Stubbs and less Johnny Gomes in LF. They are poised to be average or above average at every single position on the field, save possibly for SS with O-Cab. I just can't imagine how they'll be 19th...

I'd love more info on how they arrive at player ratings -- what stats are used, how past seasons are weighted, the role of age, etc.

Hmm... I would choose the Nats. Morgen, Zimmerman, and perhaps strasburg, with Kapps.

Actually, it doesn't. The division a "team" is in, or the ballpark the play in has 100%, absolutely zero impact on the rankings presented by SCEA. As mentioned numerous times already, the team rankings are based upon a composite of the ratings and stats for each and every single player on that team. Overall team statistics don't play a role at all as to where to the teams are ranked by SCEA. This is because a team last year could have finished in first place, but due to player retirements or loss of players to free-agency, their current roster's composite ratings put them lower in the overall rankings.

So again, the rankings of the TEAMS from last year play absolutely no part in the team rankings this year. This year's team rankings are an overall composite score based upon the stats of each and every individual player over the past three years in addition to their individual ratings given for this year.

Strasburg won't be in the game. Even though he's on the 40-man roster, he has yet to pitch an inning.
