Yeah, the era might get better over a larger sample. I'm willing to bet the K's won't improve much without heavy editing though. Low strikeouts have been an issue in the stats for awhile now. In fact, pitcher stats in general have been too random. Not saying this is definitely an indication of that...just that the small sample of numbers unfortunately trend towards history.

The bright side is that last year, you could get some solid sim stats with editing. So, in theory, any issues should at least be mostly fixable (assuming, of course, that there is no cap in 2K10).

What bothers me the most is that CC's WHIP was 1.37 and that's still Cy Young worthy. His worst WHIP in his entire career was 1.362 when he was 21 years old in his second season. So to say he has his worst year of his career in allowing baserunners is good enough to win the Cy makes me worried about what numbers other pitchers put up. Again, you can't make a conclusion with a sample size of 1, but this will be something to watch for as more reviews/previews come out. I've been bit too many times by 2K, so I'm not buying this game when it first comes out. I'm waiting until I see how the stats shake out from guys who get it and sim several seasons. This forum is the best "review" site for sports games. If there are flaws, they will be exposed and exposed quickly. I expect flaws, but I hope they are manageable. A sim stat engine that doesn't portray expected baseball numbers would be a difficult one to overlook.

Wow, the Rangers got a 90 overall? Looks like they'll be fun to play with this year.

Just noticed the Yankees and Red Sox are 97...wtf? The next highest is 91...

What do u mean you don't think they should be rated that high? To me they are the best two teams in baseball with the Phil's right behind them

Two best teams maybe, but there isn't that much of a difference between them and the other teams. Maybe 93 or 94, but 97?

Re: Major League Baseball 2K10: A Live Journal (Gameinformer)

97 is damn near perfect. Neither team, to me, is close to perfect.

I think they are very liberal with the team ratings, but maybe they don't mean much. For instance, I'd have the Yankees rated at a 92 or so, which would be the highest rated team in the game, followed by the Phillies and Red Sox.

And yeah, the Mariners are my team, but an 81 rating seems low. They have the Orioles two points higher than the Mariners... That just doesn't seem right to me. I'd put the Mariners at an 85; one of the better teams but not elite quite yet. I know their lineup holds them back, but their pitching and defense is stellar and their offense might not be too bad.

Just my opinion, I guess.
