MLB '10: The Show Official Trailer

You have to remember that the object of a trailer is to pique the viewer's interest in the topic at hand. It is NOT to give away any insight or "secrets". The same philosophy is used when determing what photos to put on the back of the game box so that when people walk by, pick up the box and see the photo, they go "Wow, I want to find out more."

In a game trailer such as the one being discussed here, the main goal is to get the viewer to ask questions about the focus point of the trailer and have them go online and do a bit more research on it. It's intent is not to show the ins and outs of the game or start spouting off about all the new features. It's to get the viewer to go and seek out those answers on their own.

Sadly, kids today are all about the "ME ME ME. NOW NOW NOW" philosophy and they want a game they can finish in 8 hours and have all the information that can possibly exist about it be explained in every publication and every gameplay trailer there is. So the reaction being seen is sadly expected. However, the trailer that the SCEA guys put together for this game is great and will definitely be intriguing many of the casual fans out there who happened to see it.

Even though I'm still obviously buying the game, I suppose I have to follow the herd and say it was perfect *shakes my head*

Exactly! Personally, I thought it was a pretty good trailer. It definitely got me pumped up, even more (if that's possible). Besides, there's not a whole hell of a lot of trailer's out there that are all gameplay. For people to expect that is kind of

After watching it again now, I'm starting to agree with dmrich28. I think I could've used a little more game footage... It's still a great trailer but it almost doesn't do the game justice. I know it's supposed to be a comparison of real vs. game, but even if it were like 15 more seconds of game footage and 15 less of real footage, I think it would be even better. It's almost like you never get time to really appreciate how good the game looks by itself.

I liked the trailer, it did a great job of motivating you to think baseball and if you are going to think baseball, think the Show! I am not sure why some are looking for revelations in a quick trailer.
