Wouldn't surprise me to see this slip into 2011...

I think the next version will be named "Gran Turismo Forever"

Well, at this point Poly's just becoming a parody of itself.

You can bet your last dollar that it won't be out until spring 2011 at the very earliest, and be bug ridden. All these delays can only indicate that there are severe problems with this game. They then say that are doing all these little "extras" to deflect what the cause of the delay really is.

Maybe, or maybe they figure GOW III will be a system seller in the spring and GT5 can use more polish and be huge in November for the christmas system sales...

GOW 3 and GT5 don't really share the same demographics. I don't see how GOW steals any of GT5 buyers. Besides i don't think anybody really thinks that GOW3 will be a system seller if Uncharted 2 couldn't do it. The system seller term really is a fallacy. Price drops are system sellers not a game like GOW that really doesn't have replay value and won't be bought for online play. There's enough quality games out there to make a person buy a PS3. It's not like with the 360 early on when Gears of War came out where there were reletively few other games out there and it was the only next gen system available at the time.

How much polish does a game need. It was originally supposed to come out about 18 months ago.

Re: Gran Turismo 5 Discussion

I agree they don't really share the demographics but with that being said Sony could still figure that they share enough that it would be better to space out the titles. Also, having a blockbuster for November is always good for selling systems for Christmas. I disagree about GOW not being a system seller, I know a couple of folks that have been waiting on that game to buy a PS3. I don't know why as I agree with your analysis that it's not replayable really and has no online but I'm just telling you what i've read about games that sell systems and the people I know that plan to buy a PS3 on March 16.

Of course all of this is speculation...but it wouldn't be the first time a finished title is held back for several reasons: to tweak/polish, to get a better release date to sell more copies, or to have a release date near Christmas to sell systems... or of course a combination of all three.

Also, I read in the recent Game Informer that they GT5 put in Indy and Nascar tracks/cars, etc..perhaps that is the reason for the hold up. All I know is that at this rate each Playstation is only going to have one incarnation of Gran Turismo.
