Re: EA CEO Speaks of an Innovative and New Take on Madden?

Honestly, Natal for serious gameplay seems really dumb to me. I don't want to pretend I'm playing something like football to that extent - I'd prefer not to look like a complete wanker while playing a football videogame. Like the Wii, it seems like more of a party feature to me.

As for the "innovative" Madden, it's hard to tell but I think it must involve something to do with online play. That's the only thing that would get a CEO excited about changes to Madden IMO while also not being an arcadey refocus (taking Ian for his word there).

"An innovative and new take on Madden" doesn't mean Madden 11. To me it sounds like a new title. Madden Online, MMOFootball, anyone?

Am I the only one that's a bit nervous that the first Madden 11 annoucement is teh EA CEO is set out to please the shareholders.

Obviously that's par for the course, but I don't recall this being an "announcement" any other year.

So I'd assume they are out to make "as much money as possible" this year. Aka microtransaction mania?

Probably not, but I think we need to keep in perspective that the CEO has had that title for less than 2 yrs. So, last year, he was talking about the take-over of another company.

In his short span, it appears that he would prefer to be behind the spotlight, not in it.

Re: EA CEO Speaks of an Innovative and New Take on Madden?

Natal would be gay and I'd never buy the game if thats what it is for. I am not going to stand in my living room, a grown man, and jump around and talk to a video game. I don't see how the hell that would work through the course of a whole game. how you gonna throw a ball with accuracy deep or short, how you gonna run the ball, how you gonna block, how you gonna tackle? Would I end up spearing my tv? I highly doubt this is what is being referred to as innovative. Cause they are acting like its something we won't expect, and the Natal thing has become very popular lately, so I doubt its that.

I doubt its online play, last year was their big announcement to do the online ****, so i HIGHLY doubt that is what is so ground breaking.

Again, I believe it has something to do with either of the following, if not all....new physics engine, new broadcast presentation, and a new price tag. Just my guesses, but really, what else is there to do to the game to make it "innovative?" The graphics are there, the animations are getting there, and presentation is..meh. Really the only thing left to blow us away with is realistic broadcast (pre-game, half time, post game) and a realistic physics engine for player interaction.

It's probably a gimmicky new feature that they throw out every year.

Re: EA CEO Speaks of an Innovative and New Take on Madden?

Create-a-Fan returns with all new options!!

Seriously though, I would love if it were improved presentations with all the TV channels (CBS, NBC, FOX, ESPN) with authentic music and what not. But that would cost way too much money.

At first, I was nervous with the hiring of the Arcade game guy and this announcement but I'm kind of excited now with Ian saying that it won't take away from the sim aspect.

Of course, what some call sim isn't really sim at all.

Why is it that most of the first posters are thinking this is a bad thing? When I read innovation, I immediately thought of a good thing. Not too sure exactly what they mean by it, but i presumed it was a good thing.

Even though i really enjoyed Madden 10, i really don't know where the franchise would go. Yes, it was going in the more realistic route which is always a plus; but i would love for them to throw us something completely different and new.

I'm gamed for whatever this is

Yes, it does, according to Ian's Twitter pg.
