Game looks almost identical to last yrs -- I just hope the game provides a little more balance than last year.

Last year I felt I was watching the game, and had very little impact on the result.

I want my stick skills to have a bigger impact on how games turn out. a balance between 2Ks right stick-controls and 09s realism and polish would be perfect.

The reason why MVP 2005 is still the better game is because of this balance.

please no stick-controls. Pitching and fielding are not natural using the stick-controls. SCEA is doing it right by not adding gimmicky features.

No. That game stopped being the best a while ago.

Re: MLB '10: The Show - Broken Bats Gameplay

MVP 2005 nailed the concept: Very nice simulation that stayed true to baseball in every way, but also provided a lot of user control. A blend of baseball savvy and good stick-skills were required to beat your competition.

MLB the show has nailed the simulation part down as good as any game has, but the missing 'element' is the "user control".

THe reason NFL 2K5 is one of the best sports games ever is that it provided the user immense amount of control, but also stayed true to its roots as a simulation.

It's what made Ken Griffy Slugfest a baseball-classic.

Another game that nailed this blend is the game in my name: World Series Baseball '98 on sega saturn.

MVP had a HUGE problem with jacking homeruns out when batting left handed, but this really isn't the thread for starting a discussion on MVP.

In order to provide context to the point I was making it required an example, thus I pointed to MVP 05. I don't see any off topic problem.

Yup. I agree. Never really got the hang of the stick controls for hitting and fielding. I hope SCEA sticks to what has worked for them for years.
