Re: Madden NFL 10 Patch #2 Available, Impressions Here (PS3)

Anyone else having problems post patch with the gameplay?

I'm no All-Star or anything but I'm usually pretty capable vs. the AI on All-Pro with no slider adjustments. Post patch I can't get anything going. There seems to be no pass protection now. Gave up eight sacks in a Dolphins (me) vs. Jets yet I got absolutely no pass rush even on blitzing plays. The only time I was able to get a pass off was when calling play-action.

While this changes gameplay I'm not sure I'm seeing it as an improvement.

ha, just kidding... haven't seen that in madden in all the years I've played, why now? Even though you see it 3-4 times at least in every real NFL game.
I've seen it once post-patch.

Played 1 half. All pro, 15 min qtrs. Bears vs Packers (me) in snow.

The blocking did seem improved. Ryan Grant had 9 car 49 yrds, Forte had 8 car 40 yrds and as far as I could tell, no lineman spinning in circles.

Passing, I went 14-22 for 250 yrds with Rodgers. I could hit slants, drags and crossing routes anytime I wanted. The flats got covered a couple times, but I hit a couple for big gains as well. I tried a curl and got picked, anything deep was over thrown but it was in snow with 16mph wind.

On defense if I rushed 5-6 guys, I could not lay a hand on Cutler as usual. If I played zone and only rushed 2, Cutler would eventually try and take off and I got the sack.

Playcalling, I only saw the bears call 1 engage 8 type blitz and I killed it with a slant for 60 yrd td as usual.

3 penalties were called. Bears got hit false start, I got called holding and facemask.

The other thing I saw was I was manually using Clay Matthews over the middle, the cpu sent Forte there and I jumped the route easily, somehow Forte got warped in front of my for a 8 yrd reception instead of a pick or knock down which I should have had easily.

Overall, for the short time I played, some gameplay things improved slightly but it was mostly the same old madden.

Stux's simmed stats opinion of Patch#2:

Unless you like how it effects the gameplay, I would stick with patch #1 if you are a sim player or sim stats matter a lot for you. But it is a give and take this patch has some things right that weren't before but other off that were much better before the patch.

Rushing stats (BAD):

WAY to many rushers over 1,500 yards

to many rushers over 1,000 yards

WAY to many rushers with unrealistic Yards per carry (several over 7 and a TON over 6)

>>>>>>
Passing stat not bad

>>>>
tackles acceptable (little low)

>>>>>
Sacks (BAD):

WAY to many players with over 10 sacks

over 20 sacks too often

>>>>>>
Receiving:

Other then TDs not bad
Too many players with over 10 Tds per season

>>>>>>>>>
Sacks and Int's are pretty good
occasional player with around 10 wouldn't be bad; like once in while kind of thing for one player in a season

>>>>>>>>>>

INJURIES ARE MESSED UP:

MAJOR issues with lineman injuries. The FA is constantly running out of people at center and guard positions.

Only thing positive I can say is at least it hasn't crashed my franchise.

There needs to be a simmed injury slider by player position.

>>>>>>>>>>>>

You guys (EA) almost need to give a slider per stats or something. There is ALWAYS something that is WAY off.

In the current state for someone that is serious about an offline franchise the simmed stats for the Rushing game and the number of players with over 10 sacks in a season make it hard to play Franchise and have a ton of fun.

I think I am going to stick with patch #1

You guys keep getting one thing right and then dropping the ball on another. It is kind of a tease!

28 1000+rushers 3 2000 yard rushers and 3 dudes with 20+sacks=failure. Can I un-download this garbage?

Gamplay is real improved though.

How so?, please elaborate

Has anyone noticed zone depth? I saw one guy complain about safeties being too deep.. anyone else feel this way?

Can you run a cover 3 zone, bump and run your CB's and still not throw it over top?

Passing trajectory: Has anyone noticed passes being released less often and less passes fluttering in the air? That was supposed to be adjusted and should limit interceptions overall.

Has anyone checked to see if RB's can be covered at all by LB's in the flats in man coverage of any type?

Re: Madden NFL 10 Patch #2 Available, Impressions Here (PS3)

stux, have you tried messing with:
  • Offensive Run vs. Pass Ratio
  • RB 1 vs. RB 2 carries distribution slider
  • Defensive Run vs. Pass ratio-I noticed that sack totals went down in the previous patch when I bumped this slider up. Also toning down the aggressiveness slider for defense lessened the number of sacks.

Re: Madden NFL 10 Patch #2 Available, Impressions Here (PS3)

Stat related numbers/impressions…
Just wanted to add some WR, CB, and Team stat ranges I hadn’t seen discussed yet for those interested in stats. Orange is obviously a Madden gen’d year.
Receiving TDS>>
2009 19 10+ TDs (High 17x2)>>
2008 7 10+ TDs (High 12)
2007 11 10+ TDs (High 16 + Moss’ record 23)
2006 5 10+TDs (High 13)
2005 8 10+TDs (High 12)
Team PPG (Top Ten Range)>>
2009 25.5-31.0 [+4.025-+3.475]>>
2008 21.6-28.9
2007 21.0-27.2 (+NE 36.8)
2006 19.6-25.8
2005 23.7-28.2
Sacks - This is insanely inflated, but I can only assume this happened so that the OLBs got theirs too and it sent the DLs way up.
2009 55-68 [+16.75 - +12.25]>>
2008 35-59
2007 37-53
2006 40-61
2005 41-50
(AP ran for record setting 31 TDs and 2740 yards this year. He also had 4 TDs on just 8 carries v. DET in week 10 )
I am happy about the following…>>
CB Tackles – Season Leaders>>
Finnegan 66 TACK>>
Webster 58 TACK>>
Flowers 57 TACK>>
S. Smith 54 TACK>>
This resulted in A. Winfield and C. Finnegan finishing top 5 in Conference Best DBs
When I ran seasons before CBs never contended for the yearly award and were WAY down near the bottom of the list.
Previous year leaders total (not combined) tackles>>
2008 Gamble 83
2007 Griffin 82
2006 Barber 84
2005 Winfield 89 >>
Not perfect, but it’s better.>>
