Plus the debate about simming is faster than playing a game or two is BS. It takes 30 to 45 mins to play a quick game. To sim a season and record stats and post it here takes that long or longer.

So while the sim stat guys might not give a crap about gameplay and want madden to be like Headcoach that is fine. But don't waste a whole impression thread of just stats. Guys are coming here and having to wade through pages and pages and pages of just sim stat talk.

Maybe I am strange
Does the stat guys complain on release day when every post is about gameplay impressions and not one post is about franchise/stats impressions?

LOL

I personally am not the type to spend a month testing and calibrating a game before I can enjoy it. I will always believe that the sloders are being used as a cop out for EA instead of spending the effort to program the game properly.

.
Yep...its not like people aren't on this community site bouncing ideas off each other on how to get any other sports games to play "correctly" by adjusting sliders.

I don't think your strange at all. Hell, I'd rather great game play over sim stats any day. I'm just saying the patch has a lot to do with sim stats so, guys wanting to leave their impressions is relevant to the thread whether you care about it or not.

Now, has there been a little to many post on sim stats? Maybe.... But, I for one took something from reading it because I trust Gator and I won't have to do those same thing's myself. Therefore, I appreciate his work and didn't mind reading through this thread.

Anyways, that's my last post on this subject because I don't want other's to have to comb through here and go through off topic post about game play vs. sim stats-- when clearly both should be here.

Completely understand but just so as much as the gameplay itself is random enough. So is simming stats. One year A.P. is running for 6.2 avg, next 4.7 next blah blah blah.

My point is that sim stats are just as random but we can tell pretty quickly if the linebackers and corners are still sitting to deep. If the corners still have eyes in back their heads and so on.

Sim stats will NEVER be perfect. To many variables. Plus people cry "broken" all the time, when a sim stat is off by a few numbers. Then real life it happens and it is like "ohhh maybe it is not so far off".

Basically the jist of what I am saying is both are just as random and not everything should be cried so quickly that it is broken. Sim stats are to random to do that so quickly. But you can tell instantly if a player is in the correct "football" position.

Re: Madden NFL 10 Patch #2 Available, Impressions Here (PS3)

Hello guys I just downloaded the patch, decided to play a game between the washington Redskins and Dallas Cowboys.
The first thing I noticed was that the defensive lineman were shedding their blocks a little quicker.
But I was alarmed with washingtons first play that was a 78 yard pass from Campbell to S. Moss, I was puzzled how wide open he was but noticed that he shedded a couple of tackles to score, I began to think that maybe the patch will cause the game to become a scoring machine.
The 2nd thing I noticed is that the defensive backs dive at the ball more which is good, I noticed that when the quarterback now gets rid of the ball he is throwing to an open receiver or one that is covered but there is a little seperation.
The replays are a little more frequent, I finally saw DeMarcus Ware coming off his blocks quicker and was adding pressure, he did not get to the quarterback but was causing him to get rid of the ball quicker.
screen passes were setting up like they do in real life and are effective and the defense persuit angles are getting there to stop them.
Running the ball was difficult but realistic.
I saw Washington quarterback stepped up in the pocket and took off running because everyone was covered and picked up 11 yards.
Here are the stats from the game. I am going to sim a whole season and take a look at the stats. It will take some time and several game to get a complete analogy regarding the quality of the patch.

ok you commented on my brief vent. Fact: Sliders will not fix inaccurate programming.

You ignored my relevant question: Has man align (which is a feature set described in the official Madden 10 game literature) been fixed with patch #2??? Without it, man coverage in this game is an exercise in futility. I'll check when i get home and repost.

One other problem which may be causing high averages is the number of 20+ carries. Top 5:

32
26
22
21
20

Not sure how real life NFL compares, but perhaps that is too high?
yeah thats way too high. Here are the top 5 for the past couple years NFL stats for 20+ yard carries:
2008 - 20, 15, 13, 13, 12
2007 - 13, 12, 11, 11, 11
2006 - 15, 12, 12, 11, 11

And so far this year Chris Johnson has 19. And going all the way back to 1999 the highest total ever has been Adrian Peterson's 20 last year.

I just don't understand how they let this get in the final patch. I mean Josh Looman acknowledged the fact that increasing backup ypc would make the starters' ypc and totals insanely high. I thought he left off by saying he would leave the ypc alone so it wouldn't break the rushing game on the high end.
