Where the post issue seems to come into play more is the mid majors and lesser known teams. They play balanced or half court tempo and they don't have enough high rated 3 point shooters to take many. I think you will need to tweak some ratings and sliders if you really want it to play more realistic. That can be done. Even without doing that, I think it's one of the more enjoyable games I've ever played, but I love college hoops.
It'd be on PS3 which seems a bit less prone to freezing, which is nice. Also, I'd be mostly playing with the majors which is more good news. Thanks for the info ralphie.

I am still having a blast with this title 3 weeks after release. I overlook the issues, have a good set of sliders to help( not fix) with the post problems, and just enjoy it for what it is.

I played 3 games in a row last night....and enjoyed every minute of it.
Yeah, maybe advice was the wrong word, comments would have been better. I played 2K8 a LOT last night and was loving it, forgot how much fun it was. I had a real blast. Decided just to have another year with that.
Then I was watching the Illinois vs Clemson game (same thing happens with any ESPN game) and, after a few more games on the demo, that need came rushing back. I've accepted that I'm just going to have to get it out of my system and give it a shot. It's just that damn presentation. It's what I've always wanted in a sports game since 2K5 football did it so well with a proper network, though I have to say CH 2K8 and NBA 2K10 are pretty special in that area.
If the issues do bother me that much, on ebay it'll go. Nothing ventured, nothing gained!

Or, let 2K have it back and they will produce a sweet product. I'm thinking about starting a dynasty with Northwestern!
I couldnt have said it better myself, I totally agree.
I am having a blast with this game!

Re: NCAA Basketball 10 Available, Post Impressions Here

Travis, once again thanks a lot for posting your stats so we can all see what’s happening. I must say your overall FGA attempt number looks more or less in line with what I would expect from a typical real life NCAA game. Your FGA and low FTA numbers lead me to believe you play a balanced or slow tempo game. As anticipated, your 3FGA numbers are off just like others are observing.

I added up your total numbers, which leave me to understand that your cpu opponents are averaging 10.5 3FGA per game against you. I also see that 18.58% of your opponents’ FGA are from 3FGA. Both numbers are a little higher than my small sample of three games in which I recorded stats for my games before I started adjusting 3PT ratings. I was averaging 8 3FGA per game against me and 13.4% of my opponent FGA attempts coming from 3FGA. Yeah, I know this sample is small but I had anecdotal evidence from the previous games, which led me to start tracking stats and looking for a solution.

I still contend that both your averages and mine prior to adjusting ratings are not realistic when compared to how college basketball is truly played. See the table below for stats for the entire 2008/2009 season:

Code:
ABBREVIATED 2008/2009 3FGA RANKINGS BY TEAM

According to the table above, the top 3 teams averaged over 26 3FGA a game. As an aside, last night Michigan attempted 34 3FGA in it’s 62 to 58 loss to Boston College. Getting back on topic, the three top 3-point shooting schools from last year had over 47.75% of their shots come from 3 point land. That’s a little extreme so let’s look at the middle of the pack. The middle teams, ranked 171 of 343 teams, averaged over 17 3FGA to 18.5 3FGA. That’s a far cry from the 10.5 averaged against you and even more than what was averaged against me prior to my ratings changes. Another key stat, maybe even more important than absolute 3FGA numbers, is the percentage of their FGA that came from 3FGA. The middle three teams all averaged over 32% with Georgetown averaging a lofty 36.37%. That’s twice as much as what you saw in your games.

Now let’s look at the bottom of the barrel teams in terms of 3-point shooting. Evansville was by far the worse with 10.03 3FGA per game in 2008/2009. Next we had 341st ranked Detroit and 342nd ranked Yale averaging 11.63 and 12.07 respectively. This would mean that your combined opponents’ average would be next to last in the NCAA. That’s just not realistic. Zeroing in on the percentage of FGA that were taken from 3FGA stat, your opponents stats when combined is at 18.58%. That would put your opponents way worse than the most pathetic 3-point shooting school in the country last year, namely Evansville.

I’ve seen a satisfactory increase when playing teams for which I’ve raised the 3 point ratings of select players. This seems to be a very good solution since a lot of players’ 3 point ratings are under-rated in the default rosters anyway. I think we would even see further improvement, albeit slight, if EA fixes the cpu catching and shooting in the post issue. At least the proportion of shots taken as 3FGA would improve a little. This would give the perimeter players another chance to attempt open jumpers and threes when their bigs are doubled and have to pass it out. Nevertheless, as much as I still enjoy this game and am addicted to it, this game as shipped does not reflect this very important aspect of college basketball.

Hey deadlyCane. You're as crazy as I am man. I thought I was a stats nut. LOL! Good work though. They need people like us working at EA. I guarantee you the games would be statistically realistic. Not sure about your roster update, but I went through hundreds of the best 3 point shooters in the game, and adjusted their 3 rating accordingly. The CPU is definitely attempting more 3 pointers against me so hopefully this method is paying off.

Re: NCAA Basketball 10 Available, Post Impressions Here

Cane, you sure did your homework. 3's do seem to be off from a real life standpoint. I actually was surprise when I started looking more in depth that the overall # of 3's was that far off. I new I had some games where 3's was not be taken like I thought shouls be then some games in my first season I remember15 to 20 being taken by some teams. But when you cvalculate the overall amount by all teams played it does not translate to real life. I was having so much fun with the game I was overlooking the lack of 3's being taken by all teams. Actually this game plays more inline with the way the game should be played IMO,LOL. Being a guy that was a sharp shooter in my day when i played I would like to see the 3 point line moved back to where the pro line is at and the pro line moved backed to where it was originally back in the day. Back then it took skill and only a remote few could actually shoot from there. The game has definatley changed over the years with teams basing there game around the 3. I guess I am just old school like coach Knight except Knight don't like the 3 pointer at all but I think it is great for the game it just needs to be moved back where only the truely great shooters can hit it. Hopefuuly we get a patch to fix the 3 issue as well as a few others but we probably should not count on it.

Thanks Cane. The work was just what I wanted to see. Thanks for gathering those averages and summing it up.

the 3 point situation isn't to big of a deal for me. I love it when I hit that big shot but on this game it was just as exciting as Pitt hit a big 3 to tie the game with 1:00 left the crowd went nuts. I was amazed.

Besides the freezing, this game is fun. Just went to work playing against Florida State using the Buckeyes. Evan Turner's stat line: 21 points, 17 assists, and 12 rebounds.
