looking forward to MLB 2k10, I just don't know if it will be a day one purchase this year.

It will be better to rent first to see if the game is good. That's what I plan on doing.

Since Longoria's on the cover I hope that means that there will be cowbells at the trop and I hope they get all the stadiums as accurate as possible including Target field.

Yes, yes, and yes! Although I will not buy upon release, I am truly excited to see what new features will be implemented. I know people want 40-man rosters, arbitration, etc. but they need to fix the major gameplay issues, stadium inaccuracies, and franchise issues first. IMHO, I think people will tolerate another year without these roster management features for a solid game of baseball.
