Then this 2nd patch is suppose to fix all this. So basically youre are making excuses for EA. I dont care what the development cycle is. Bottom line is that EA chooses to make an NFL game every year. Why? Money. So if you are going to do it your way, then dont half-*** it. Otherwise release a game every other year.

I have a bigger problem with NCAA. NCAA 10 is junk. Madden is a good game, but im starting to see these patches affect the game in a bad way compared to how the game came out of the box.

But i spend countless hours playing 5 seasons in franchise, only to watch a patch alter gameplay that forces me to come up with a whole new set of sliders. And if it had fixed the sim stats, what sane person wouldnt have wanted to start over with better gameplay and simmed stats??? My line were going down in overall every year due to the pancake stat being screwed. Bad thing is that the first patch actually made the game worse. Im all for presentation. But atleast go about it the right way. Take notes from the NCAA 10 basketball team and kill the repetitive halftime show.

I'm not making excuses for EA. I absolutely agree that in a perfect world sports games would get a long development cycle and come out every other year. Unfortunately, we don't live in that fantasy world and the gaming industry simply isn't going to change for the obvious reason: money. Either accept the reality that we'll get rushed products with varying degrees of flaws every year like has been the case for the last two decades worth or sporting games or don't. However you feel about it isn't going to change how it is anytime in the foreseeable future and arguing about how it should be is purely worthless and aggitating activity.

Now there can either be a patch to address the rushed product or not. It's very simple for the consumer: either these companies fix their rushed products or they don't. It's one or the other for Madden and certainly I would prefer they fix it. It looks like they're doing so too which is great news for me and anyone who possesses some degree of patience! The alternatives to downloading patches at the moment are that you can play the game that shipped and not patch it or not buy it in the first place. This is all very, very simple. Regarding the timeframe, well it sounds like you want it both ways and that's probably asking too much. You want the game patched both quickly and without creating other problems because the patch is rushed? Good luck with that!

It also sounds like you started your franchise and are upset because (assuming the patch can be applied to existing franchises) you're going to have some unsightly statistical numbers in its history so you're going to have to choose between accepting that they're there or restarting. I can understand why you're upset but it sounds to me based on your original post like because of the need to rectify the "funny" numbers you'd rather there be no patch at all. I'm just calling it like I see it but as someone who would like to see the product I purchased improved by the manufacturer I take major issue with your position.

Well, I guess I'm not as sim as I thought, because I play this **** daily and love it. Guess I'm a casual player huh, lol. Plays fine to me.

Matter of fact, this is the first Madden in ages where (provided I have the time) I can actually sit through more than one game at a time. Now thats saying something.

Madden 10 is great, flaws included. Tiburon dev team, keep hammering out those bugs and building on the foundation, I cant wait to see what you all have in store for 11.

You point is valid. What did the first patch fix? Almost like I am living in the matrix. We had the same amount of excitement for the first patch but still ended up with serious gameplay issues.

Madden is as sim as we want. Sometimes I think madden is too sim because so many players play towards the flaw of the game vs the sim aspect. I am enjoying the game as a sim but frustrated with pursuit angles.

Basically I'm left with the notion that they're still working on it and we aren't in the MS/Sony approval phase like mentioned time and time again in this thread. With that said, and if true, I bet the time frame is more along the lines of a few weeks to a month vs. any day now.

Just an opinion based on what I read. Not saying that's what he implied.

Here is what Ian said.
I think this statement by Ian makes it pretty clear that the patch is still not submitted:
"Larry and I created a blog showing what was approved and guaranteed to be in the patch, but as you all know I won't promise anything else until I'm 100% sure it's going in so I don't end up getting roasted (at least worse than I already do)."

He also stated that it took a long time to finish the 2nd patch, so the patch itself seems to be finished but it looks like it's in internal EA testing and if some issues are found the respective fix will be removed from the patch.

Anyone else notice in Ian's 2nd last post, he said the 2nd update "HAS" taken a long time to finish, interesting that he never said it "TOOK" a long time.

I don't think it's in the final approval stages, i think it's not done.

Or

It was done and then MS or Sony said, no go back and fix this and that

Well pastapadre posted that the patch was in ms/sonys hands a couple of weeks ago. And we would see the madden patch in the 1st half of nov.

Well thats what we've all pretty much gone off of but Ian statements seem to somewhat conflict with that. Wouldn't he have said that its in Sony/MS testing?

I doubt Sony/MS sent it back asking things to be fixed because its not their job to actually test whether the patch fixed anything or not they just test it to make sure it won't cause any hardware damage and/or to see if there are things that might not jive with, what is it called ESRB, rating system.
