Re: NBA 2K10 Patch Available, Post Impressions Here (PS3)

I can't speak for Myplayer mode or online. But offline this game just became great.

For one, I didn't delete anything. And all seems to be working fine. I've done a few different modes (association, nba today, quick games, practice) and everything seems to be working fine. I set all the sliders and settings back to default for the most part. I used the blazers against the bobcats in an NBA today game (first game I played post-patch) with default everything except shooting fouls at 65 and difficulty at all star.

Tons of contact in the paint. I had tried lead passing just for the heck of it and they got stolen easily. Tyson Chandler was actually a force in the paint and blocked 6 shots which was incredible to see. He also fouled out (the downside of contesting that many shots, which is incredibly realistic) and that's the first time I've had a cpu player foul out against me since nba 2k7. Boris Diaw also had 5 fouls.

The shooting percentages at the end of the game were Blazers 42%, Bobcats 39% on DEFAULT sliders. I wanted to play as if this were my first time and I was just opening it, ya know, to see how it plays "out of the box". And I wasn't disappointed in the least. What an amazing game. I have to up the minutes just because it's no longer so easy to score. LA was my leading scorer with 16 points. But shot only 39% from the field. They doubled B-Roy a lot and he was held to 12 points on 4-11 shooting. The defensive rotations are incredible and really enable and reward a drive and kick game. For the most part the CPU stopped doing the obnoxious drive, start layup animation, and then throw a 26 foot laser accurate pass to someone wide open for a 3. The defense collapses on drives and if you try to force anything it's going to be blocked, stolen, or you'll shoot a very awkward shot.

Given that I was only playing on all star, and given it was against the bobcats. The fact that I only won by 3 points on all star with default sliders tells me that this really is a brand new game. Thank you 2k, thank you.

Can anyone check for me if HUM vs. HUM is recorded properly? Offline, HUM vs. HUM is a pain. -_-

I think there's still some tweaking left. I've only played a single 12 minute quarter on default sliders so it may have been a fluke, but I shot 54% with Boston and gave up 34 points on 84% shooting or so to Cleveland. I felt like my team was actually playing good defense and we were sending guys like Shaq and Varejao to the line when they tried to play down low. Amazingly, only 8 or 10 of those 34 points came from in the paint. Both sides were playing really good defense too, getting into passing lanes and only helping on defense when it was appropriate. Aside from the astronomical shooting percentages, I'm pretty impressed so far in the very early stages. I'll give another update later after trying out some sliders.

I thought the patch was supposed to fix the autosave bug? It's still autosaving my association after every change I make. Is anyone else still experiencing this?

Man...anybody who knows me, knows that I don't hesitate to call a game out if they are releasing bs. Well, this patch really fixed this game offline. Playing vs the cpu on this game now is just...amazing. No more cheapness either. I do have edited sliders, but I left the tendencies at default except for alleyoops, backdoor passes, commit fouls, and put backs.. I was amazed when I saw channing frye standing at the 3pt line waiting for the pass. Playing on superstar btw. Shooting seems to be fixed a bit. I'm timing my jumpers at the apex of my dudes jump(like in 2k9 and all the other 2k games besides 2k10 prepatch), and its going in now. The contact is nice too. A little overdone with the contact around the free throw line, but its still nice to see some damn contact. lol. I also edited the fouls and it plays great.
