I mean how can you release not one but two basketball games where players don't have any awareness.............

They just run scripted plays and take shots that the plays calls for without actually deviating from the play if a guy is wide open for an open shot backdoor.
PM, I tested that out too and was a little discouraged at what I saw. I posted a while back that it's similar to Live where the CPU seems predetermined in who will shoot the ball. I've doubled perimeter guys when playing as UNC only to see Duke neglect finding the open man and making me pay. I've even completely backed off guys and the only position I've seen take advantage of this has been the PG.

CB, you're 100% right about the foul calls. It's hard to believe that it was not addressed. The ref will blow the whistle and you don't know what the hell is happening.

Like others have said, I'm glad there is no DNA to work off of but I know that the roster editors are going to have their hands full trying to tone down bigs speed/agility and create some athletic differences between major and mid level D1 players.

A few times it showed who the foul was on and didn't cut away, but it still happens and is still quite annoying. I would like the commentators to mention the foul and who it was on, or even better, imo, a cutscene showing the ref walking over to the scorers table and signal the foul and who it was on, and a stat overlay could pop up with who the foul was on and the number of personal fouls.

CPU's defensive rotations are way too fast on All-Conference and they block way too many shots in the paint, plus it's a little too hard to get past your man with the dribble (not an issue in Live). Nothing criminal, but things look so much better on varsity. Varsity is easily the way to go in terms of realism and an even balance between you and the CPU.

On Varsity the drive and kick game, defensive rotations and in general the entire feel of the game is so much better than All-Conference IMO. On default you just make too many shots and it's a little too easy to get past your man with the dribble but that can be adjusted in the retail with sliders.

I also like the CPU's offense in this game more. As I expected, DNA seems to do more harm than good in Live. There's less wacky crap from the CPU in this game, though neither team pushed the ball all that much and both are supposed to be up tempo teams. That will probably be fixed via patch though. Again though, the only downside will probably be that teams don't go to their stars enough. Individualism is not going to be a bright spot of this game out of the box, we'll see what we can do with the roster editor. A big key will be is if we get the "shot likelihood" ratings that are in Live. If that is in this game then we should be okay, it'll just take a lot of work.

FT's are crazy as UNC, I think I made 1/20.
Couldn't agree with you more. I tried playing a few games on Varsity like you said, and I found that it plays way more realistically than on All-Conference. I was able to get a few open shots and even had a couple of fast break dunks. Playing on Varsity with slider adjustments in favor of the CPU will be the way to go for me.

I actually just finished playing a game on All-Conference in which I was on fire with Duke...but I lost 23-19. I felt like I had no control on defense and was at UNC's mercy every time they had the ball. In every game on All-Conference, I feel like I have to play amazing just to keep up with the CPU.

I agree, free throws are an issue. Anyone know if free throw difficulty can be changed (like in NBA 2K10)?

Anyways, I'm actually kind of excited for this game but will probably wait for reviews before I drop the $60.

maybe its the demo, but i didn't feel like i could overpower the offense with my defense. i wasn't able to control the tempo. i do think it may because i don't like the two teams and don't fit my way playing either. we'll see it was late when i played so maybe i wasn't on my game

Re: NCAA Basketball 10 Demo Available Now, Post Your Impressions (360)

enjoyed the demo. [ps3]
a newbie to college hoops games.

LOVED what i saw of the CBS presentation!
cant wait ot see how it goes in the full game.

one thing
the court looked smaller than other nba games. less room.
i looked at a vid of CH2k8 and it looked the same.
is it always that way on college games?

i do not know how i can deal with all NUMBERS for players tho.
is there a way to edit EVERYBODY and give them names?
will the announcers say names that they have in a database? or is it, number 21 this, number 44 that.

Ball Physics and rebounding seems to be too over dependent on branching to it's limited pool of motion captured sequences rather than being a more physics based organic game.

It became so apparent after I popped in CH2K8 and was immediately immersed in a more diversified and dynamic game with a more abundant and more pleasing variation of player models that really looked like kids from all over the country and even a few that looked like they came from overseas.....I think Im in love all over again with a game thats over 2 years old.

Hopefully EA can get their act together when enough people provide useful feedback
This is a great post.

I enjoyed the demo, and thought it was fun, but I couldn't stop comparing it to CH2K8.

I agree with you both.....you would think since EA has no direct competition for ncaabb they should have made a steller game.......

I really get the feeling that my presence on defense in this game is meaningless besides a few block shot annimations.
