CPU pass percentage is definitely higher post-patch unfortunately. They are consistently above 80% now, whereas pre-patch I could hold them in the upper 60% to 70% range. Not a good change IMO, but I'm sure it was done for the casual gamers.

Sure you can. There are plenty of goals in the NHL where a guy just beats a goalie on a clean wrister with no screen. If it's a good enough shot that's placed properly, it can happen, especially with guys like Ovechkin and Kovalchuk.

Re: NHL 10 Patch Available, Post Impressions Here

Has anyone actually found out what the average passing completion percentage is for an NHL team is??
I have scowered the internet and have yet to find any sort of passing percentages for NHL teams.

I think EA should just do away with that stat and then everybody would quit looking at it and judging the game by it.
It is just too subjective a topic, what is a missed pass, one that doesn't go tape to tape, but the player still gets control, or one that misses the target altogether?
I have seen many games of hockey and do not see a lot of missed passes, unless they are deflected by someone or stolen. I recently watched a hockey game and on one powerplay the Leafs, yea I said the Leafs, passed the puck over 20 times, d-man to d-man to the saide wall, back to the d-man, etc. Not one pass was incomplete, so in my opinion the NHL passing percentages are probably at least 80%.

Like I said, if EA would get rid of that stat, people wouldn't be calling it a problem.

Passing percentage means nothing.

I wouldn't say it means "nothing", as you definately don't a game of near perfection(NHL 09). Hockey is a sloppy sport. I do agree though, it needs to be determined what exactly constitutes a missed pass. Also with EA's open ice passing, would the cpu count those as missed passes simply because they weren't directly to a player? It would be nice to know the actual NHL Passing Pct. Average, but I imagine it's relatively high(75-85%). I don't see too many errant passes when watching a game, but I'm not really watching for it either, so who knows. In any case, the stat does mean something to those of us of want to try to replicate the NHL as much as possible.

Yep Flyer, this is just about what I'm experiencing too.

For me...it's not really so much about the "numbers", as it is the affect on the gameplay. As I posted earlier...pre-patch, [with ACC at 0] the cpu imo, was missing on a realistic amount of their passes. Ie...the slider was effective. Now it seems as though it's not.

I don't want to do anything too hasty. But I'm thinking about possibly deleting the patch. I think I'll play a few more games then make my decision.

Re: NHL 10 Patch Available, Post Impressions Here

So I was a little worried by my offline first game after the patch (last week) after I trounced the Devils 6-1 with the Penguins. I was able to do more or less what I wanted offensively, thanks in large part to the improved manual passing. But it just seemed like the AI was too passive... maybe it was just NJ's strategies.

Last night, I raised CPU pass interceptions to the max -- had it at 3 to offset slow passes -- and with no other changes proceeded to lose my first three games of a GM mode with Buffalo. The first two were one-goal games (aside from an ENG in the 2nd), while I screwed myself in the 3rd by giving them 8 PPs (!) of which they converted two. Needless to say I didn't generate much offense with so much time on the kill.

So yeah... just an impression.

Re: NHL 10 Patch Available, Post Impressions Here

CPU is around 70-75% for me, post-patch. There have been a couple of games where they've been close to 80, but no 85-90% games.

CPU seems to shoot less (I only play on 9 min. periods, so this may be a factor) than they did, pre-patch, but it's not a huge margin.

Now, I just need to figure out how to score again, lol. I've scored a total of 2 goals in my last 5 games, and have lost my last 3 all by shutout. Having Stastny out is really starting to affect my team.

Re: NHL 10 Patch Available, Post Impressions Here

unfortunately i think its either higher cpu pass percentage, or lower cpu shot totals. Take your pick. I would rather the higher pass percentage as they are giving me a better challenge post patch.
