Ugh. I haven't dl'ed the patch yet, but these impressions have me a bit worried. I loved the game, warts and all, pre-patch. Is it really that much different post patch? Maybe some authentic DNA updates will help?

if you play offline, the only things messed up are the goaltending(so ive heard), and the OT messing up. other than that, the patch makes the game play better IMO.

I'd like to see how things play out, once we are deeper into opening week, and there is more DNA to work with, also...

Re: NBA Live 10 Patch Impressions (360 Patch Only, PS3 to Follow)

I don't do much posting here but I thought I'd add my $0.02. I'm not a hardcore sports gamer like most of the members here, nor am I a sim-head obsessing over the statistical accuracy of Live. I'm a casual gamer giving a casual gamer's perspective in the hopes that Marcus et al get some feedback from that particular demographic.

To summarize, the patch really broke things for me. I was playing fun games pre-patch with L4D's sliders but ever since the patch was released it's become painful.

Fouls: The CPU gets 15 fouls to my 1. I'm getting blown out in games because they go to the line and are 13 for 15 and usually that's the margin they win by.

3-Pointers: They heave them from everywhere behind the arc and I feel like I'm powerless to stop them. Their percentages are off the charts.

Goaltending/Blocks: It seems like I can't make any more drives to the hoop because when I do, I get it rejected, or I miss the easy layup.

These are just a few of the nagging issues that I noticed in the patch. And yes, I reset my sliders back to default and no, I probably didn't play the games 'right' and thus the reason for the high number of fouls and blocks but remember, I'm a casual gamer looking for a fun casual game.

Now, I know that many will say "Go play 2K10 where all the cheezer arcade boyz are." which is fine because everyone is entitled to their opinion. I just thought that the community and the Live team would like to hear the thoughts of an older (late 30's), casual gamer.

In the end, I wound up trading in my copy of Live 10 and picked up 2K10 for the PC but that's for another post in another forum.

I'm actually surprised Steph or anyone else from EA has not been on here to address what they plan to do. I know they are looking into the OT issue but I wonder what their reactions/solutions are to the major gameplay changes that is being reported. I am NOT downloading the patch and will deal with default rosters. I am not going to waste my $60 with the download after reading/viewing the video's people have posted. It's a shame...I along with allot of you were anticipating the dynamic season but it looks like I will not be playing that this season!

Re: NBA Live 10 Patch Impressions (360 Patch Only, PS3 to Follow)

There's some good parts of the patch that have been stated already, but I'm just going to post the gripes. A few things feel off for me after this patch. For the record, I was one of the few who didn't think any of the game "fundamentals" needed to be patched, only the bugs and glitches, and stuff like the sub menu not working, etc.

CPU blocking is worse. I can have a clear path to the basket yet be rejected from behind somehow by Jose Calderon. And this happens constantly. I'll be cruising in for a wide open layup only to be blocked by an invisible shield, and the defender is always behind me and out of position to block the shot.

The pace seems too quick. I liked the times pre-patch where the CPU held the ball for the shot clock because it felt like they were taking a breath and slowing the game down some. Now the pace feels too quick.

My biggest gripe would be the fouls. I appreciate having more fouls called on my end, but the problem is the CPU gets every single call. It feels frustrating when you're playing great defense only to have the CPU just throw up some garbage and get the foul call on a contact animation. There's times I still get creamed and no foul is called, but on the other end every contact animation is an automatic foul. I'm trying to figure out if it's a home/away thing, since I seem to get no calls on the road and the home team gets everything.

These are just initial impressions, not concrete facts. The more I play the more my thoughts may change. But right now these things are bothering me. I also wish they would have fixed the sub menu buttons fast forwarding past cutscenes/replays, etc. Frustrating to say the least when trying to do on the fly subs.

I actually like the game better post patch except for the pace seems a little too fast....i agree with other posters about the cpu rushing to get a shot off....other than that the game feels good.....glad that they changed that up and down ani after a made basket and blocks and post up play feels alot better. That was big for me.

Now just waiting to see them fix dynasty mode cause marcus said it could be fixed this year....hopefully we don't have to wait too long.

Good post. I'm with you on this. I was also in the group who didn't think any of the game fundamentals needed to be patched.
