Great, now we got to put up with the DC rants in both basketball forums?

Kidding bro.

Haven't posted much here, but I love and respect the great things that OS does for the sim gaming community. Anal nitpickiness aside, this is the spot for sports gamers.

Absolutely loving the demo. Takes a good game from last year and completely turns up the heat x100.

The one thing I'm struggling with is boxing out. I understand it's supposed to be Y, but every time I push it, my player leaps for a rebound. If someone can help explain this mechanic, I'd appreciate it a lot.

Has anyone experimented with RB while using the defensive pressure settings? Does it cause you to play up more?

I've started to get the hang of defense. RB really helps in certain situations(especially in the post). I would like to find out how to front though, it's pretty successful for the CPU.

I know man I really want to return back to Live. And all the stuff they did put work into, it felt nice and EXTREMELY intuitive. But on the flipside, I'm the type to throw my controller across the room if I run a screen play and the guy coming off the screen is blatantly standing out of bounds (both feet) calling for the ball

Pared, regarding Stealing and Blocking. We really wanted to encourage people not to run around and spam those buttons like they have in the past. If people attempt to do them randomly, I'm happy that the AI blows by them. So what we tried to do was boost the impact of those defensive actions when you did them in the correct circumstances. Essentially, hitting the steal button just as you make contact with the dribbler on a drive or crossover move. Or hitting steal when you see a guy sizing up. Or hitting steal just as you make contact with a guy going for a layup to strip the ball. Or reading where the shooter is trying to go, anticipating, and challenging/blocking his shot.

But for defense in general, our focus this year wasn't to create "video game" defensive tactics. But rather, we wanted to encourage users to master positional defense and team defensive strategy. Read the dribbler, anticipate, cutoff the angles, bring help at the right times, etc. Yeah it's great to get a strip, knock the ball loose, or huge block... but over the course of a game, good defense is just making sure the offense works for every shot. For me, if I make my opponent take a contested shot on every possession and not give up easy scores, I consider it a successful defensive stand. So there may not be tons of stuff "to do" with the controller on the defensive end of the floor. But there's plenty to think about and I think it's actually quite engaging... especially against another human opponent.

Press and hold Y to boxout. Release to jump.

The main thing about boxing out... it doesn't move your guy to the ideal spot for you. You have to find a body and then hold Y.
