I have as much right to love 2k hockey as many of you have to hate it and that doesn't bother me one bit. You and a few others can't stand the fact that I like everything 2k and you can't change my opinion and I understand that it's hard to accept but that's just the way it is.
Let's see...claiming that I am confused...referring to my speculation as "idiotic"...referring to "me and my buddies" with "mindless bashing". Very friendly vernacular. I am far from being "behind", and you "leading me out of the fog" is friggin' laughable. You tweak one slider. I was a Head Researcher on the NHL EHM games for the PC, so I have an idea of how things work. It's called experience. I also was selected my my peers on this site to represent OS at the EA event. "Lead me out of the fog" indeed.

I never said you couldn't like 2k. Please show me where I have said this. And while you're at it, please show me where I've said that I hate 2k. Didn't happen.

It's not hard to figure out that you like everything 2k. And dislike most of what is EA. Heck, I know what bias means. I also know that if 2 companies are selling the same type of product and one company sells a million and the other only 100,000 --- well, one company is in trouble. Getting back to my NHL EHM experience, that was a game that didn't sell enough due to piracy issues. Guess what happened? The game folded as it was not making enough money to support its development.

Even though you edited your previous post with a smiley to change the tone, it doesn't change the trend of you getting riled up if I, Realm, or anyone posts something negative about 2k. I am glad you are buying 2k. I am buying it too. The existence of two hockey games only makes them both better.

I guess when I'm feeling compassionate, I really do see the bind they're in. And I appreciate they're no doubt working their butts off with a very small development team, trying to get this game finished up. December 2004 really did alter sports gaming, and to the detriment of 2K. It's sad.
I totally agree. But what gets me is the lack of effort as far as marketing goes...it's like they don't even try. I know EA's marketing budget is massive, but remember "Top Shelf Tuesdays" back with 2k4/2k5? The TV commercials with JR in hockey and TO for football? The aggressive $20 price tags that forced EA's hand?

Where is that effort today? Especially when social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc. can be a low-cost and highly effective viral marketing tool.

I agree, I like this post. I disagree with some things. but for the most I agree. IN my opinion Eddie and Realm are the same. The way he sticks up for EA game even in here is just like Eddie does for this game. I see no difference. I think having a demo would have been cool, but when you can't use sliders it really makes it a shell of a game. You can see some new animation and new graphics, but that is really all you will get with a demo. Maybe the AI would play better, but I just no.

Your right about that Scott. It's the reason we clash so much.
But I'm seriously not trying to stifle anyone's negative opinion of 2k. It's the reason why I don't put anyone on ignore.

one guy argues in favor of a superior game which their company and devs have worked hard on to create and market, and one guy argues in defense for a series which has done nothing but underwhelm and disappoint in recent years.

that seems like the exact opposite type of person to me.

Well you call like you see I will call it like I see. Both will go to their gave defending their games. That is cool. I think 2k set up to the plate this year. Even the game AI looks better. And that is pretty much all we can ask for each year.

I think you are missing the point. They both defend their game to no ends. Even when someone said anything bad about there game. Eddie is getting better, Realm I don't know I have him on ignore. Any ways it does keep it exciting. Until a mod comes in and makes it stop.

I am not confused one bit. I know how marketing works, and also realize how the lack of a demo can impact sales. All you need to do is actually read some of the posts in this thread to prove my point.

"Me and my buddies" should certainly be able to post our opinions in a discussion forum. Sorry if you can't deal with that. Perhaps the "ignore" button is your best option?

Negative feedback is not "mindless ripping". It's just an opinion that differs from yours. Ben Bishop has told me on several occasions that he values my feedback and feedback from others as it helps them make their game better. Perhaps you "are behind" as you can't seem to be able to grasp this concept.

I am concerned about 2k's sales as, unlike you, I will buy both hockey games as I feel competition is the only way either one will improve. Madden is a perfect example of how a lack of competition can impact quality.

You continually seem to have issues with anyone who doesn't look at 2k through the same rose-colored glasses that you do. I would feel remiss if I didn't once again recommend 2khockey.net for you as the 2-Kool Aid is always cold and you can bash EA freely until the cows come home.

So, in summary, I am someone who is buying both games. I am someone (unlike you) who has done this for the past 8 years now. I present the good and bad of each game so that the developers can take this mature, constructive feedback and improve the game.

Well said Flyer, well said.

I have been lurking for the longest, but I had to jump in this. Eddie needs to stop.....like now. The more he TRIES to convince someone, that 2K is the way to go, the more it looks like he is drowning.

I think we will have 2 very strong games this year.

Yeah, I don't mind any and all opinions. It's really what these forums are all about. I'm excited either way. Life is great and 2k looks very good. It sucks that I won't be able to play until I get back from Roanoke on the 18.
