Guys, this is our game. We've put ourselves out there, a very risky thing to do, and shown you our complete gameplay. We're completely confident in LIVE this year, and think it's miles ahead of LIVE 09, and, in our opinion, is officially "back." Are there things wrong? Absolutely, but we think there are way more things right than wrong.

I'm anxious for you guys to get the demo and see the many layers this game has for all of you to sink your teeth into.

Thanks again!
Um, no, thank YOU!

From my perspective you have three loose choices for these situations:

1) You make the dribble animation playout before the user's input to shoot/hopstep/etc goes into play. Here there is no travel, but there is a sense that you don't have full control or responsiveness. NBA 2K8 comes to mind.

2) You transition to the users input, resulting in a more responsive experience which can occasionally have a travel as a by product. This is what i'm assuming is going on in Live 10.

3) You transition to the users input and call a travel, training the user to not input instructions that will result in a travel. Interesting, but I don't think devs are taking that step just yet.

Also, again Live's "cuts" are not prerendered cutscenes, they are simply camera cuts. Not sure that the game would flow more smoothly without them but as you said, its likely something you can turn off if it bothers you.

Haha, neither can I.

But I really believe you have some valid points there.

I really think this is a huge step in the right direction for Live, I mean that really looked like an actual NBA broadcast.

The thing's I noticed though, there were some choppy plays.

ex) Delonte tried to pass to corner, tipped, saved, ball rolled around for a while before Delonte got to it, just didn't look good.

The Delonte Block on Ray.

The commentary really wasn't good at all, at times there was just complete silence, but when actually watching games commentators find something to talk about all the time, it was also just really robotic.

All in all it looks like a great game, I'm gonna have to let the demos decide which I get this year. Hopefully Live has an oline Franchise.

Honestly, in an actual NBA game that probably would not have been called on him.

As usual EA games have poor play-by-play commentary, and GREAT color commentary.

Other than that, video looked nice, can't wait for both demos already.

Probably not. Also, I didn't mention it as I have zero knowledge of how game programming works, but i'd imagine coding the game for option 3 and testing out the requisite bugs would make it a bit unwieldy to implement.
