Re: NBA 2K10 Draft Combine Trailer

The foot planting looked really good during the drills.(starting at 1:23) I loved the foot movement during the dribbling and box-out drill. I did notice a slight hiccup during the post Off/def drill, but other than that, I didn't notice any sliding.

I think the graphics are fine, BUT the blurry center-court logos gotta go. I don't know what kind of effect 2k is going after, but it makes no sense for the far court and players in the distance to be sharper than the BIGGEST thing on the court, which are the logos. In the video, you can see that the "Attack" logo is only sharp because of the zoomed-in, birds-eye camera shot. It needs to be that sharp all the time.

Can I have more then 1 "My Player" career when I buy this? Like have a draft combine for my PG And then redo the draft combine for my SF?

I think it's hilarious that people call this game "2k9.5" or the same as 2k9.

It's clear by the videos that post animations have improved, sliding/foot planting is MUCH improved (you would not be able to move around the pylons like that in 2k9). There was actually a box out and rebound animation, shading on defense, a non canned cross animation, and some beautiful layups/dunks. The turbo feature is ingenious, it really eliminates cheesers/full court pressing and hurts people who try to abuse it all game, it will be a slowed down NBA pace game.

One thing is sure, none of you can judge this game and say it looks like "2k9.5" because you haven't even seen real gameplay yet.

Finally, you guys need to realize that 2k9 is working off a great engine; there are just some minor tweaks which needed adjustment and so far they've addressed the majority of them it seems.

Unlike Live, this game didn't need a complete overhaul.

Nice trailer; love some of the new anims like the box out move by the center in the rebounding drill and the interaction on the block. Very interested to see how they've implemented additional transitional animations with the improved footplanting and court spacing. It could also serve as a closet tutorial for people that like to run around hacking at the ball and generally playing selfish. I get the feeling that some people that play that way don't know they shouldn't play that way; this could be a nice way of getting people to learn the controls as well as teaching fundamental play (if they care about their rating/draft position). 2K9's current 5on5 mode does a really good job at tracking a person's play behavior and I'd assume they've improved on that for this DLC.

All in all a great deal at $5; like the methodical approach they're taking. Can't wait to see what they have in store for K10

It's because SimBaller said it himself that it's basically 2k9.5 and the actual SKU should be improved from that. I think the gameplay has improved but only to an extent in the Draft Combine.

For sure, the point is this game didn't need a major overhaul.

More so, I'm worried that they didn't address AI issues. In the IGN review Nate talked about not seeing improved rotational defense but seeing it in Live on higher difficulties.

Mike Wang had mentioned how 'in the past' they would simply raise the AI's shooting %'s on higher difficulty to make them better. You can tell in the Live demo vids that on higher difficulty it plays like an entirely different game, defenses move around, you only saw 1-2 dunks at the half, and so on.
