Ahh ok that may be the reason I'm somewhat turned off by it then. Thanks for letting me know. I agree, Thorne and Clement have a ton of experience, Clement even back to NHL98 when he did color for that title. (at least I think it was 98, may have been 99) Btw the color guy in Madden is Cris Collinsworth though I agree he's awesome in Madden.

It is only becasue he ad-libs his lines most of the time. It gives it a fresh feel to it. It does make a difference. I said Todd, that is a friend of mine. lol

The areanas are stunning.

Gameplay must be set at an very easy setting. The gamespot preview vid looked more realistic.

Player faces looked awesome in that instant replay vid on IGN. NIce work.

Re: NHL 2K10 Gameplay Videos (IGN)

I'm really starting to like this game. After not being shown at E3, no videos, no nothing for a while, I was losing hope. But these videos have looked good to me. Yeah, some parts are kind of stupid (celebrations can look awkward, commentary is bad) but those weren't part of the actual gameplay. I think the gameplay is going to be very tight this year, especially with a few slider tweaks. I'm excited.

I would have rathered they write a new script that caters to how Drew and Randy actually call games in real life, I doubt they use the same corny lines that Cole and Neale do.
This isn't rocket science. Thorne and Clement sound 100% natural, as if they're at the game and calling the PBP. There's life and excitment in their delivery. The 2K announcers sound like two very bad voice actors who are sitting in a recording studio, pretending to be calling the game. There's no life or flow to their delivery. It's sounds 100% inorganic and completely lacking in authenticity.

On top of that, the script they were given varies from boring to stale to embarrasingly idiotic. Plus the in-game sound programming itself is staccato, choppy and clunky. Those issues I blame on the 2K people who wrote and programmed the sound script. But the fact they've had horrible announcing and the exact same issues for five years running now, tells me there's nobody on that development team who has either the awareness or talent to improve things.

Well I'm glad its not just me baa. Because I was starting to think I was the only one who really felt the commentary sounded awful and totally unrealistic.

Edit: So I had to youtube sharks highlights and no, the're not that bad in real life, or anywhere near as corny. Its the 5 year old script thats hurting the game more so than anything else. Though I do have to say, Randy and Drew are no Thorne and Clement. 2k, /Bruins homer just hire Jack Edwards and Andy Brickley and let them ad lib, I promise you hilarity and good commentary will ensue! /end Bruins homer I even have proof! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EntM3...eature=related

Re: NHL 2K10 Gameplay Videos (IGN)

The game was played on default Pro settings; be sure to stay tuned in the coming days to the developer blogs on 2ksports.com which should shed some more light on how some of the sliders can help you have a more realistic or "sim" game.
