Re: IGN gameplay videos

Well, clearly models and cybers taking an upward lift. I'm hoping for a better than usual demo, but I'm not holding my breath.

Hoping too that sliders will give a good loose puck feel whether it's offline or online exhibition games. I'm going to try to stay away from the lobby rats.

Its early and obviously playing it on a higher skill/slider set may change things but honestly, aside from the graphics finally at least looking next gen and great looking arena intros/presentation aspects, I'm not all that impressed, tape to tape passing, retreating dmen, lack of puck awareness on the cpu AI's part. Meh, c'mon VC don't let me down.

As you said though, slider settings and skill level most likely plays a big part in most of that, so why jump the gun at this point? It's IGN, who destroyed their gameplay vid of NHL10 as well. Of course nothing worse could happen for 2K, where the doubters are already in droves. Hopefully the Developer Insights will help remedy this.

No man I totally hear you, sliders definately play a huge role in at least the gameplay department which is obviously the most important thing. I'm totally disappointed in the commentary though, again, for the 5th year in a row. I absolute hate the way Cole and Neale call games and while I'm sure there's prolly new lines of commentary in there it still sounds very C&N on the whole, why have all those awesome presentation aspects like between period breakdowns and such when the commentary sucks as bad as it does?

This I don't get. Doesn't EA's have the same old lines too? Maybe you like don't like Drew and Randy delivering them? To me it seems like they go together.

Is that how Drew and Randy call real games? You being a San Jose fan I'd imagine you would know. I dunno if its their delivery (ie it sounds like the're just reading lines rather than it flowing natually like Thorne and Clement) or that I'm hearing the same lines from 2k6 and I cringed just about anytime Neale opened his mouth when they were the commentary team. I would have rathered they write a new script that caters to how Drew and Randy actually call games in real life, I doubt they use the same corny lines that Cole and Neale do.

To me it remains to be seen. What we have heard so far about this game is that someone can pick up and play and have a fun time or if you up the level a bit it will cater to Simstyle play.. I take it that we saw a easy level that anyone can have fun with...Again my point why we need info on this game to come out a few weeks ago... It wouldn't have been too early but it would've caterd to all involved. We will see. But again I think we should have 2 solid games on our hands

Actually that is how they sound. I don't know they have a lot of lame jokes in real life too. So maybe I am used to it. They are more polished when it is live though, so who knows. I think Cle and Thorne just have had more experience with giving their lines. I think the best right now is Todd Collinworth in Madden and that is mostly because he does a lot of ab live.
