I am still pumped for this game. The AI might be a problem to you guys, but to me it was fine and to think that they made the goal celebrations and Arenas better have me even more pumped for this game. Thank God I have a job that goes so fast. Weeks go just as fast as the Weekends, so September will be here before I know it!

I think what it really comes down to is positioning or lack there of, the AI is so much more focused on either checking someone away from the play (which should be interference in the first place) or a goalie over commits so much he ends up way out of the net which happens far more than it should in 2k9. To me it just doesn't feel all that rewarding at all a lot of the time.

I love all the little specific touches to particular arenas and its definately something EA could add down the line so I'm not at all knocking the game on that aspect but being such a big franchise/offline guy I don't get the challenge that I get in 09 if I make a mistake on defense because 8 out of 10 times the CPU ai will pass out of a great scoring chance for a one timer or send it back to the point to a defenseman who forgot where the blueline was and is offsides, where as I leave an undefended guy open in the slot in 09 if he's a star or good scorer 9 outta 10 times I'm gonna pay for that and give up a goal.

Thats not to say 09's ai is anywhere near perfect or even that much better with the lack of player movement from your AI control teamates or that they tend to be a little too passive in their pursuit at times (both of which seem to be fixed in 10) But I'll still take it over what 2k9's abysmal AI is.

Again if they have indeed managed to correct alot of the AI issues for 2k10 it won't even be an arguement but I'm fairly doubtful that they totally rewrote the AI in one dev cycle like the're trying to claim. At least til I see it in action on tweaked sliders, or have the chance to play it myself on tweaked sliders.
Well they did say that you can customize your game to your liking. I think they even said you would be able to play 20 minute periods and get real shot totals if that is what you want. I don't know about that, but if that is true that will be great!

I'm with you Scott, I find it far from broken. It is more than fine and with the new features it can only get better. I can't wait for September to get here.

I would imagine the majority opinion would carry alot more weight than that of a vocal few I think is the point he was trying to make. I agree with him. One can argue the shorter MLB dev cycle attributed to the issues the game has, and that very well could be true. The framerate issue though while its better in MLB2k9 dates back to the design decision on 2k's part to start on the current systems with a last gen engine. And its a decision thats going to haunt them for the entire rest of the current console life span imo. In the case of NBA they lost key members of the NBA2k team to EA and subsequently to the NBA Live team which may help explain the issues in 2k9 that make it not being quite as good as 2k8 in many peoples opinion, mine included.

Personally I'm amazed that the only slider in NHL2k9 you've touched is the offensive AI slider and have no issues at all with how the goalies perform on default sliders as the goalies are prolly the one thing that need the most slider tweaks in 2k9 to make them at least be tolerable. (And I tip my hat to Savoie on his sliders for that one thing right there)

I think for Eddie since we are a little older and our silks are gone. I think we just want a game that is fun to play and give us a little sim in the same time. I still get realistic stats with this game. And that is all I ever wanted. Plus have I said how much I love the goal celebrations.

I can understand that point of view Scott and its all good. Nothing wrong with just wanting something fun to play and not worry about all the little things. In Eddie's case though that doesn't explain how he goes out of his way to defend 2k at every turn, if he's of the same opinion of yourself Scott and just finds 2k9 fun, then why the EA bashing that he does? And why the need to dispute every single post that says the slightest negative thing towards 2k even when its a justified gripe? Thats the part I don't understand.

I don't agree but that's okay. I think the improvements VC made with MLB and NHL were outstanding considering it was their first year at it. And NBA 2k9 was a much better product than 2k8, it wasn't even close IMHO, so there is nothing to compare there. The majority carries no weight with me.

I don't bash EA, I simply stated that their products are not as good as 2k's and I stand by that. As far as that back and forth with Vince, well he started the "majority" thing. If that meant anything to me, then I would like EA hockey based off of this forums, but that would also mean that I would be playing the inferior product. People can have gripes about the game but when they try to convince me of something I don't think is true, then I respond to them. Somethings are not meant to be understood. It's just the way it is.
