Its like a sickness to some of you , we all know your getting EA myself included at this point but you seem to get more joy backhandely commenting on 2k then actually talking about NHL10 ?
Its like some of you guys have a agenda give a backhanded shot and then a so so shot and then kinda a good thing then a prayer of hope for poor 2k and then a well lets see more.
Me personally Im not here to play games and mince words and I dont always explain myself well but Im always honest in what I do and dont like .............
Somebody mentioned they loved 2k9 on the ps2 and I couldnt understand why but to hear the passion in his words it really taught me something .
So I can respect Joeblow who likes to play zamboni races cause hes happy and really isnt that all that matters .
Exactly to each his own. I have been smashed over the head for glowing praise of 2k sports titles but I say those positive things because that's the way I truly feel. I never understand those who have a problem with that.

Great Post.

Thats what gets me with 2k9, theres so many head shaking instances on scoring chances that end up in the net due to either bad positioning or a lack of reaction, no 5 man hug after the fact really would help me personally feel any more rewarded. If the AI actually is completely rewritten in a single year (which I still think is just a bullet point) it'll be moot, but I still want to SEE it for myself before I think of dropping the cash on 2k10.
Realm, I understand that your into the minute details of hockey and how the a.i. should be, but I find it hard to believe that you have analyzed every goal in 2k9 and come away with the conclusion that the majority of the goals shouldn't have been scored or are fluky due to poor goal tending A.I. What mathematical equation did you use to come to such a conclusion. I just don't get it.

I'm ecstatic to say the least. And it was a 2 year project, as I have read this several times. I'll have to take the word of the DEVELOPER on that one. I'm just saying. VC knows what they are doing when it comes to sports games.
lol, no way...NBA 2k8 was much better than 2k9

And MLB 2k9 was an abbomination compared to 2k8.

Pretty much every time I fire up 2k9 (keep in mind I've tried tons of slider combos finally settling on Savoie's HOF sliders) I'll see goals that either the cpu AI defender was so out of position on the play it was an easy rebound, or an unscreened goalie just decided to barely make a save attempt, I dunno it just cheapens the whole thing to me. I think what it really comes down to is positioning or lack there of, the AI is so much more focused on either checking someone away from the play (which should be interference in the first place) or a goalie over commits so much he ends up way out of the net which happens far more than it should in 2k9. To me it just doesn't feel all that rewarding at all a lot of the time.

I love all the little specific touches to particular arenas and its definately something EA could add down the line so I'm not at all knocking the game on that aspect but being such a big franchise/offline guy I don't get the challenge that I get in 09 if I make a mistake on defense because 8 out of 10 times the CPU ai will pass out of a great scoring chance for a one timer or send it back to the point to a defenseman who forgot where the blueline was and is offsides, where as I leave an undefended guy open in the slot in 09 if he's a star or good scorer 9 outta 10 times I'm gonna pay for that and give up a goal.

Thats not to say 09's ai is anywhere near perfect or even that much better with the lack of player movement from your AI control teamates or that they tend to be a little too passive in their pursuit at times (both of which seem to be fixed in 10) But I'll still take it over what 2k9's abysmal AI is.

Again if they have indeed managed to correct alot of the AI issues for 2k10 it won't even be an arguement but I'm fairly doubtful that they totally rewrote the AI in one dev cycle like the're trying to claim. At least til I see it in action on tweaked sliders, or have the chance to play it myself on tweaked sliders.

As far as the A.I. is concerned, I pay for mistakes dearly and the cpu is more than willing to take a shot when I leave an opening. I turned up the offense for the cpu to 60 (defaults at 50 and the only slider I have touched) and I tell you I have to be very careful on my own end of the ice. I have lost many 2 goal leads because of this. Now some of that may be how I play I'm not sure, but if I leave just a little crack the CPU goes right for the kill. This has been the most challenging hockey game I have played. I'm just talking 2k since I haven't spent a lot of time with EA.

well you are in the minority....I'm not trying to be an ***, but it's true...Go around both forums and most ppl will say the 2k8 versions of each game where better...Especially in the case of MLB.

So yeah you're entitled to your opinion, which I respect, but that opinion is not widespread by any stretch of the imagination...

But what does that matter. It's what I like not what the majority likes. Silly argument. You follow the crowd, I'll go with what I like.
