Re: Madden NFL 10 Demo Available, Post Impressions Here

I LOVE that Warner can't throw a bullet pass 30 yards downfield (actually saw him bring the ball down and **** back for a deep throw, GREAT animation addition).

I LOVE that Jereme Urban doesn't catch everything.

I LOVE that Beanie Wells dropped a pass to him out in the flat.

I LOVE that Larry Fitzgerald kills DB's on high balls. I LOVE that Anquan Boldin does not! Boldin does usually take on 2 defenders before going down however....greatness.

Why do I love all this? Because RATINGS FINALLY MATTER!!!!! I actually have to make smart decsions based on personnel. I can't wait to play the final build. It's great that finally each team and player will feel and play differently.

On All-Madden, I am finding it impossible to sack the QB. Also the incomplete passes are usually just from knockdowns, same as last year. However, with the new sliders this will hopefully be more adjustable than last year.

Re: Madden NFL 10 Demo Available, Post Impressions Here

my genreal thoughts on the demo (5 min demo)... only played 1 game but i thought the game was pretty good. The game speed is a little slow but i'm used to NCAA speed so thats prob the adjustment. I'm not gonna bash it like other people seem to be doing because i thought it was pretty good, maybe not as great as i expected but pretty good. I like that its slow enough to really read the holes but maybe they can adjust it slightly or already did so it feels like real football a little.

But i thought it was good and i think a lot of the negatives are a bit of nitpicking and like the story on the front page said, sports gamers are becoming like worlds of warcraft or whatever fans where they obsess that the elfs are not the right size or whatever.

Overrall i'd say good job Ian and the boys, i'm looking forward to actually not selling Madden back after 2 weeks like i have the last 2 years.

if anything they made the playcalling worse. NCAA had a perfect setup this year, they should have just used that. wouldn't have been that hard
i disagree about the cpu being untouchable, i was able to get good pass rush on Warner and the Cards got good rush on me. When they rushed 3 i obviously had more time but the cpu is good at getting the ball off quicker when they get rushed just like a good qb would do in real life. I also threw some bad passes, especially on the run when getting rushed or when i got hit.

I do agree about the playcalling screen, i dont like the 3 plays on the screen and pick it by pressing a different button. I prefer NCAA's playcalling screen. And i dont like that the accelerated clock was on the demo because it doesnt give you a lot of time presnap to make adjustments.

But, IMO, there are improvements in those areas. Plus, there's alot of new stuff that impresses me. And, some of the things I'm seeing complaints about don't seem to happen that often. Now, complaining about cutscenes, warning beeps, and a player wrapping a player up instead of hitting him is a little overboard. As with any game, the devs may not get it done exactly the way everyone likes, but in this case, at least there's alot more in the game now, and done moderately well. But, I too am kinda shocked at some of these comments. I'm certainly not the most technical guy here, but this game seems to play a smooth, fun, sim game of football, finally. IMO, of course. They even got even got the toe drags, and hitting out of bounds right. I mean, c'mon. Not only did they get them right, but, everything happens so smoothly, and looks great (realistic)!

The QB makes perfect passes? What?! Personally, I've seen the QB throw as many misses as completions. I don't see any evidence of Robo QB. NONE. But, I understand knee-jerk reactions can be wrong. I believed in Madden 09...08..07, and 06. But, that was before I was really educated on the real problems. I had much less Madden knowledge before finding Apex, Moody, and others here. I'm using my eagle eye alot more these days. I appreciate those more technical than myself, especially for getting the word out about the games shortcomings. But this demo is very good, IMHO.
yea i feel yea, maybe not perfect passes and judging a 1 min demo probably isn't fair but like i said, ill save my judgment for the game when i can play some 10 minute quarters.

its just frustrating because this gen they started out about 10 steps back from the ps2/xbox maddens and they're just now catching up. the franchise should have progressed a lot farther than it is right now IMO, even graphically it wasn't up to par to last gen until this year, the past player models, faces and all that were hideous

Re: Madden NFL 10 Demo Available, Post Impressions Here

One thing I can say that I don't like that I hope will be adjustable is the way the camera moves down on a running play.

When the play starts, I can't see as clearly as I'd like. I think the overlay gets in the way too , but I could be mistaken. I just don't like the view.

I dont see bad DB coverage, I see REALISTIC DB coverage that varies based on ratings
