Backyard Baseball '10 Review

I’m not sure how many OS readers have kids -- or soon will -- but due to a recent addition in my own household, I’ve started to pay more attention to games aimed at children. Now, my daughter is too young to pick up the controller, or at least too young to know what to do with it, but I have no doubt that gaming will be a part of her upbringing.

Nice review, the first one was the best... hate to see it regress

I wish they would put more effort into these games.

The potential is definitely there to make a great arcade baseball game ala Dusty Diamond Softball for the NES.

I used to love this series as a little kid, and still occasionally pick it up for novelty value. But the new ones are just straight garbage - their efforts to modernize the graphics and update the gameplay have ruined the Backyard games. I want the old cartoon graphics back...

Backyard Baseball 2001
Backyard Football
Backyard Baseball 2003
Backyard Soccer: MLS Edition
Backyard Hockey

Those were the five that I had ever owned and it was that order that I gave the most playing time. I've tried others, but have given them such little playing time because they are piss poor now.

Seriously, they don't even try anymore. I don't know who buys these games instead of trying to find the older ones lying around somewhere.

i'm with you on that the roster was phenomenal. I had the first basketball, hockey, and soccer and they were pretty good too. I had baseball 2001 and that had a good roster too. I bought 2005 and i was really disappointed it was just really weird and i can see how the series has progressed. Someone should take some of those old games and try to mod them, it would be so funny.
