Ian I hope you get to answer this, Tampa Bay's new OC Jags is switching our run plays to zone blocking...Can we get a video of some zone blocking?

Re: Madden NFL 10 Blog: Blocking Improvements Part 2 - The Run Game

I'm not sure I like the Dline in these vids. I know this is put together for showcasing the improvements in Oline blocking, but the Dline seems to come off the line slow to me. Let's look at the first video and go to the 0:30 mark. Look have fast RG Randy Thomas gets outta there, but Spears does not even move. It's like he waits for the Tackle to get him. On the other side, Oshansky does not even fire into the blocker, he just sorta stands up and catches him, then gets rid of him.

If you look at the second video you get a better view. Look at the right side of the screen. Now I'm not saying Spears should have made the play or anything, but look at how the tackle is able to easily reach him then sorta turn him. How is this possible. He should have fired his head right into that damn gap. The Tackle should be blocking his outside shoulder, not sliding and then blocking him straight up and then almost turning him.

The third and fourth video look pretty good. I just gotta know though, Ian if you get a chance could you call crash right/crash left and see if the Dline actually fires to the gaps. Like this:

Very simple diagram, but the Dline needs to move in the direction I call. We need at least something to mimic a run fit.

The game is looking better and better with each blog. There are just two things that are gonna make or break Madden '10 for me, running animations and throwing animations, two very fundamental things.

Portis was jogging through the hole instead of getting low and exploding throught it. Anyone running that upright is asking to get blasted. Running animations has been a heavily discussed topic. I'm looking forward to the blog showing much more realistic running so we can just dead all the uncertainty.

The same goes for throwing animations. I'm beyond estatic to know that there will be different throwing animations. I just hope they look smooth, no bent knee, pretty follow through, not herky jerky or robotic looking.

Man hugh hole. That happends sometime in the nfl. I seen hugh whole panthers RBs ran through last year. Hugh holes can be made depending on how good that certain team D us and all that. But hugh holes have been seen in real nfl games. But in the videos I also saw the LB come up and stuff the RB in the backfield. It all depends on the play calling and how good that D is.

I got to say that new hit stick animation looks sooo great. The way the Cowboy player puts his shoulder into him and if u loop it over and over it just flat out looks really darn realistic.

i am not so happy with some of the tackling though. In one of the videos u can clearly see the suction tackling where the defended stops time so he can get the hit on the HB. This is the kind of thing that HAS to be fixed. It is sore on the eyes and it really hurts the gameplay because you never TRULY know if what u think in your mind should happen or if some MADDEn suction stuff is going to take over and screw you.
