Good article.I like the game alot but would also add the need for CAP's before you start a franchise and it would be nice if you could tweak ratings.

Probably the most aggravating thing to me is the poor sim engine. For instance,Alex Smith shouldn't be anywhere close to MVP quality and halfway through my current season T.O. has 65 catches for over 850 yards and McNabb has thrown 18 ints.!!!

I bought the Madden collectors edition to get Head Coach 09 and I have ended up playing that more than Madden.

This is the one game that kept me up til 3 - 5 a.m. sometimes. Yes, time absolutely flies while playing this game. It's addictive for sure, but the on field gameplay was absoltely horrible and eventually caused me to put the game down. I wanted to see the results on the field of my off field hard work so I did not want to just sim through the games. However, watching the games was just too painful. Catch 22.
They could release the same exact game, EXCEPT FOR IMPROVEMENTS IN ON FIELD ACTION, and this game would be stupendous.

Yeah, I think it is kind of surprising that this one flew so far under the radar (given how few quality sports games) we see these days. I have gotten tremendous enjoyment from HC 09. I agree completely with stlstudios189 - I did the same thing!

i loved the game and got it with the collector's edition of madden this year, but i had no idea there was a demo lol.

im suprised you didnt mention the trades... where it was pretty good, but i felt that there should have been more customizable options during the trade negotiation. I really liked how it was possible to request for more in a trade and then trim down teams that arent giving any value.

also adding to the draft, was the draft day trades that occured. in nearly every round you had an opportunity to move up or down which was nice. you could be the jets, or the browns of this year.
