Re: MLB 09: The Show Patch Released 4/27/09 - Impressions and Discussion Here

What is getting completely lost in all this bickering and choosing sides is that "patches" are a concept only familiar to PC gamers until about 3 years ago. The importance in not making that distinction and then defining the expectations of customers who install patches is that we end up giving SCEA too much credit.
Imagine, if you will, how many hardware/software configurations a PC game needs to be compatible with and then take the next step and realize that a patch must do this as well. Finally ask yourself, how does that differ from this current situation?

I'll say it again, in my experience patches are placebos and that is o.k. They should never be cancer.

And your point?

As for the fixes, the only one to expect is the "mini patch" for the replay issue sometime this week. Not really in limbo, just not necessarily the info everyone wanted to hear.

That's good to hear, never saw that.

Yeah, seemed pretty obvious to me. Not sure how he didn't get the point.

My whole thing is why can't they fix the roster control bug with the mini-patch too? To me it's more important then any highlight i could watch. It really is a shame because this game is so close to being great but what do you do?

Lendog,

I'm completely speculating on this, but I think it's tied into the AI logic with the auto fix lineups, and perhaps they would have to redo all that? Again, I'm just talking off the top of my head, but perhaps it's more detailed than that.

I agree, and I'm having to work around somethings like changing some positions of players to get them in the game /whether or not it's RP/SP, etc., but it's a workaround that works for me.

Agreed man. That's my biggest disppointment with the game. It's a shame having to workaround it because it's just a hassle. I love the game and out of anything was hoping this would be fixed, but I guess it won't be for this year.
