It's interesting that their real world example for Marion Barber has a helmet flying out of the pile. Not sure who it belonged too, but got me wondering if we'll see helmets popping off from inside the pile.

Re: Madden NFL 10 Blog: A Deeper Look into PRO-TAK

i know im late to the party but i gotta say i like it. i just hope the ball carrier doesnt land on his back on every gang tackle. and im sure you already heard about the Ravens video about how Lindale just stops on a dime.

i also love the ol/dl blocking, looks like the ol can finally block a defender on their side, hopefully they can extend their arms to push a pass rusher out the way.

Re: Madden NFL 10 Blog: A Deeper Look into PRO-TAK

I haven't read this whole thread, so I apologize if someone mentioned this already.

I think it would be a cool idea if defensive (and offensive to a lesser extent) players can collide with eachother during a tackle. For example, a defensive player has a grasp on the ballcarrier but the ballcarrier is still moving his feat. A big hitter is coming over to clean up the tackle, but the ballcarrier sees him and goes down to the ground or whatever to avoid the big hit. That leaves the original tackler in a precarious position and he gets demolished by his own team mate. These are some of the hardest hits that ever happen because the players aren't expecting it. This should probably put one of the players at least out of the game for a series while he gets himself back together.

Other times this type of thing happens is when 2 DBs collide with eachother trying to break up a pass, but I guess that could probably just be an animation and not really part of pro-tak. This stuff shouldn't happen very often, but every once in a while it would be cool to see a huge collision between members of the same team. Thoughts?

hey cool, im going back and reading the thread and this gif actually has an example of what I am talking about (although my example is a much more violent one). One of the Cheifs is getting dragged by Turner and his own defensive teammate actually hits him and knocks him off the ballcarrier.

Re: Madden NFL 10 Blog: A Deeper Look into PRO-TAK

Sounds like a promising addition. I think Pro-Tak and re-worked player movement (ie, momentum/sense of weight/turn radius/etc) could be big steps forward if they are successfully implemented...
