The only thing I can think of is that SCEA thinks that they can't fix some of the more prevalent issues, and therefore do not want to list them from the get go. However, as members of the MLB community, I think we should be given more updates and details into the process. We have all waited patiently for these issues to be fixed, and someone from SCEA should be able to answer some of our questions at this point. They should have a strong idea of whether or not we have to restart our season/franchise. You'd have to think that when Russell started this post, they were probably already a couple of weeks into the whole process, and its already been 2 weeks since he started the thread. We STILL have not gotten updates. I understand that things have to go through the QA process and what not, but as a developer, I also know that at this point, you should already know what your limitations are and what you can accomplish.
What's the deal?
They were probably told not to comment until they knew for sure what they could/would fix. I'm just happy their working on a patch, and hope to God that it includes a lineup/rotation "glitch" fix.

I can tell you I have tried EVERY trick I have ever used in any game.

Here is one thing you can do, but it only works for your team and team you are playing against.

If you have 2 controllers move one over to your team and the other controller to the other team. Set your lineups, start the game, and once the game starts, press pause, controller select, and move the 2nd controller back to the middle for CPU control. The CPU will take over.
If you only have one controller you can try moving it to the opposite team, and then select their lineup. After the game starts move it back to your team. I am not sure about this one since I haven't tested it. Your team may get messed up, I don't know. Give it a try if you only have one controller. If that doesn't work, try going farther into the selection process without starting the game with your team, and then back out a little and do the other team, and leave the controller on the other team, start the game, and move it back after the game starts. I know that's hard to follow. If you have 2 controllers, its easy.
Of course this doesn't work for any other lineups/rotations except the games being played.

Jim, I understand you've worked with these guys and I only said I feel like they are stringing me along. It's unlikely that that would do that, but you also have to understand the frustration in this community.

For what it's worth, bugs and glitches cannot be fixed unless they are recreated exactly how they happened. We were shown how this works at the event. SCEA has asked us to help them and there is a thread for this. SCEA has been communicating with this community for years and it should be appreciated, I'd think. Ever look at the CREDITS when they roll at the end of the game?

No matter of complaining in this thread fixes anything. If you can't be patient though, continue on, but stringing us along?
You're right Jim, they're not stringing us along. However, if you knew a thing or two about the development process and running a business, you'd know that SCEA isn't doing anything special here. They do have top notch customer service, but anyone that is running a successful business needs to have keep in touch with and have good rapport with their customers. You guys glorify these developers when IT IS THEIR JOB to create a great game and they get paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to do so. If they didn't make such a great game, no one would buy it and they'd be out of business. Let's stop the a$$ kissing here and start getting updates. I'm not asking for a play by play on the nitty gritty details of this patch, but what I am asking for is something like this:
"The patch has been in progress for the past couple of weeks, and we are currently in the QA phase. At this point, we feel like you will not have to restart your season, but a more defnitive answer will be given once this process is complete. We hope to be posting the patch in the next week or two."
At my company, we send out emails like that to our customers ALL THE TIME, and I don't think that it would be too difficult for Russell to give us an update like that. We all paid $60+ for this game and do so every year. WE pay their salaries. WE are the customer, and the customer is ALWAYS right.

I agree. Say what you want about 2K, they have released two patches for their game and were giving out updates as they went along.

you'll never be a successful business if you follow that motto. Never.

Look I understand people want to know what is and isn't going to be fixed, because it could mean the difference of starting a franchise now or waiting, I understand that. But at the same time, what good is jumping on the message board and complaining about the lack of info going to do? Its not going to make the patch come any faster, and I doubt a few bellyaches are going to change the minds of SCEA.

Every business handles various practices different ways. SCEA chooses to wait until everything is complete and finalized with a patch before disclosing details. Honestly, if I was in their shoes, I would do the same thing. The only thing worse than having a bug/glitch is to promise your customers that its going to be fixed and then not be able to. Or to promise a timeframe and miss the date.

Lying/misleading customers is the WORST thing a business can do, outside of blantantly cheating them. It seems that SCEA chooses to wait to disclose info until they are 100% sure, in order to avoid the backlash of a misguided/mislead customer base.

Wow countryboy, why am i not surprised that you would answer the post in this way? I don't do much posting on here, but I do a lot of reading, and it seems like all you do is kiss SCEA's a$$, and make condescending remarks to those ppl that don't agree with SCEA. Seriously dude, get over yourself.

Re: MLB 09 The Show Patch Announcement From the MLB Development Team

I believe it is sony's policy not to release info until after everything is wrapped up. Look at firmware updates usually it is all rumors till one day there is a blog and a prompt to download.

The developers also have to follow company policy since SONY pays their salary!
