can i ask a question??

it seems like EA is cutting back on the qb dropping back 30 yards or whatever.
it also seems like EA has created a new 'throwing on the run' rating

YET when people hike & run to the sidelines they DO NOT THROW ON THE RUN!!!
they run outside of the pocket, almost to the sideline. SET UP THE QB & FEET then throw.
maybe a 'pocket presence' rating would do. as for 'throwing on the run' people dont do that. they manually run the qb to the sideline and set up the feet 5 yards from the sideline...........then if no-one is open they take off upfield.

has this been addressed?

sounds good rgiles. i was worried that the 'new rating' could be easily countered as most cheesers the 'new rating' wont affect them.
good to see you guys are on top of all the little things.

thanks for the prompt response.

Coach K let me ask you this, has a madden team ever been into the community like they are now? Instead of pointing out past fails why not just list some things that you want to know about. We have 8 guys here (I only know of 2 in this forum) that can answer questions about the game. Nobody here has all there faith in madden until they have there hands on it, yea we like what we see right now but we haven't played it. You pointed out some glitches no game is perfect every game will have there glitches. This madden team is showing improvement but I'm not sold till I get to strip the game down.

I read through this beast more and EA definitley picked the right guys to go. First off, I have been reading and interacting with LBZs since2k5, and I remember he pointed out defensive alignment flaws of APF when we were all super happy to just have the game in our sweaty hands. I know the guy is anal, and that is needed in a football game, which has to be complex as hell to create.

Ian is cool, and I remember last year he offered to let me jam out on the game before release, but maybe not even at Tiburon. I don't remember, but I didnt get to do it. I did buy the release on midnight, and probably sold the game a few months later.

You guys have to understand that growing up in Winter Park I have seen my old friend who played QB (I was a RB) on my high school team go to work for EA and design the game. And this was back when 2k was just better. I would give him grief about it if I saw him out, but I always thought it was cool just that the dude was making football games. So even though I am jaded because Madden has been awful on Nex Gen, I think this is amazing that the new team is getting 2k guys to go and make the game better. I don't have a lot of time to buy video games anymore, so I get 3-4 a year tops. I want the best of the best, or I'm selling it. Football is my favorite sport, but I will go w/out it and just play APF if need be.

Reading this thread gives me a different hope then before. Because I don't think LBZ would blow smoke up our butts, or any of the guys for that matter.

I do have a couple questions that may have been touched upon, but I didn't see.

We know the playbooks are good, but I was wondering how accurate they are this year. For example, the Dolphins use a ton of formations, in fact they led the league in that. obviously the wildcat needs to be in the game. But, I am wondering how accurate the playbooks are to the teams. Last year, they were not bad..An example was Cam Cameron's offense for BMore. They ran that single back trips that he likes. I thought they touched upon his style, but did not get as deep as I wanted. Is there any more depth to the formations and playcall variations this year? I have always wanted this from a game, where I can come out with a team and take on their identity and run their offensive schemes in a lifelike manner. I still do not believe that this is where it needs to be, but it is getting better.

Screen passes. I could not use them well in 09. I needed to because of all the nano blitzers. The screens in APF are incredibly affective on blitzers. I remember when I got that game I was getting blitzed by some kid online, and my cousin was watching. He was saying "run a screen", and I said "screen passes never work in video football, but I will try it"..you can imagine my joy when I peeled off a 20 yard play because it worked to perfection. In 09, what happened for me was that the RB would just pop out wide and be in a bunch of people and it was like you could not even throw him the ball. There was nothing fluid about the play..the RB would stop in a weird area and he had no OL really blocking for him. The timing was off on that play, because if you waited a bit (like you are supposed to) the play would not develop. So I am wondering if that has changed.

Finally, how does the running game feel compared to 2k5? I did not like it much at all in 09. I would go back to APF and it was far better for me.

Random thought, and don't get me wrong im glad some of you guys got to play the game and told them what needs to be fixed. But I thought the nfl exclusive deal got them closer to each team then ever before.. so why the hell aren't they talking to the coaches about how all this stuff is suppose to work?

I remember them talking about madden helping them out.. not that I don't trust your guys opinions on how football is to be played because trust me I don't know crap about the fundamentals of football. I just don't see why these guys aren't going to the source they are paying all that money to so they can be the only ones to make a video game for the league.

Does this just make to much sense?

I am sure all the others are too but in reality you guys seem like you are having to do a lot of follow up work that will take up a lot of personal time in which you are not paid for. I don't think people are seeing it that way. They see that you got to play 10 early which is nor really what was going as it was an early build. I for one appreciate that we have such dedicated members that are able to put in the extra time and WORK that is involved in being one to go to community day. I for one would never have the time to do all the extra that you guys seem to be putting in. Nice work guys!
I'm doing a lot of work actually. I've already sent in a 10 page document and am working on another to get out by tonight or tomorrow. After that I might be done. Then I'll move on to impressions and hopefully finish them up by next weekend and wait until they give clearance to post them. Everything I'm doing now is off of my 2am - 4am notes.
