I could see some guys he'd been tuning guys since that first blog, and it was cool to see Tom Brady look like, well, Tom Brady.

I think everyone expects Madden 10 to be several strides ahead of Madden 09, but I don't think anybody is expecting to see what we saw.

Let me put it this way... we've spent 18 hours with the game. We watched a power point presentation in which damn near every jaw in the room hit the floor. We've seen it, it's a hell of a lot easier for us to believe it's actually come that far. We've all tempered our views, we've all pointed out the flaws, but we've always said "hey, this might get fixed, this is so close" etc.. And to have you, LBzrule, and BezO come back praising it like you have... I can imagine it smells fishy to some... how does Madden, who was hard pressed to figure out how to get defensive hot routes back into the game 3 frickin' years later, ever make this much progress in one year?

Hell, I was asking them that when I was there.
Great post.

And you're right. But at least two guys are definitely hating, lol. The one guy who just won't give it a rest in this thread attacking our IQ's, and then the guy who made the dartboard thread naming us specifically because he was mad for not being chosen. That was hate personified. I love the hate though.

But for the rest of the guys, you're right about the disbelief. I'm not gonna lie, I'm still surprised by some of the things I saw, so I can understand why people would be skeptical of some of our praises.

But I don't think they realize how often we were critical while at the office, lol. A few times I thought one of us were going to piss them off, lol. But they stayed cool... although I'm surprised they didn't hit Kane once or twice

About the animations... everything Ian has told us in the blogs is the truth and believe me I was REALLY checking for that.

My eyes hurt reading most of the posts.

Answer to two points raised in this thread:

1. You guys are only being positive because you got an early look at the game.

There isn't one guy who went to that event who didn't appreciate the opportunity. To say otherwise would be an outright lie. That said, if the game sucked or was Madden 09 service pack 2 ... you'd know it by now in this thread.
And I am insulted that you think some of the guys at the event are such fanboys that they can't be objective. I have never kissed Ian's behind on these boards and don't intend to start now. If something about the game ticks me off, Ian will be the first guy to know (and did ... at this event).
I think the general gist of people just think it's hard to dictate the quality of the game after a community day.

I remember after the Madden '08 community day vividly. How this was a "whole new game". The responsiveness was unprecedented and how it would blow the doors off anything we've ever seen. We all know how that turned out. I do think by sending quality guys (The Watcher, BezO, LBz), this community day was less about hype and more about feedback. Nonetheless, you can't blame anybody for taking this blog with a grain of salt.

We were the 8 chosen.
There's no doubt in my mind that many OS guys deserved the spot ahead of me.
I hung that on you guys. No hard feelings intended, just a name I hung on you guys.

This, alone, is exciting. I can't believe how quickly Ian and his crew have turned this thing around.
