LOL, damn mayne whoever thought failing to ask a few questions would mean you don't know isht about Xs and Os.

But one thing you should know before spouting off at the keyboard: The only football games I CURRENTLY OWN are 2K5 & APF 2K8 and I play 2K5 frequently. Ian & Phil certainly didn't invite any fanboys down there.

I hate to say it, but I guess that's jealousy rearing it's ugly head. I don't look down upon anyone just b/c we were the fortunate ones given the opportunity. But looking at it the other way around, certain characters (yes characters) are attacking us w/out any facts. Do your homework before you come with fists swinging.
As a certified doubter I vouch for my boy Rgiles36 and that The Watcher dude as some honest critiquers. No offense to rest of the cats chosen, but I've seen too many posts by the two I mentioned to have any doubt if these guys are fan boys. People like Coach Ruckus give the naysayers a bad name, and I end up getting lumped in with cats like him. I am still not convinced By any stretch of the imagination that Madden 10 will exceed expectations, but I got nothing but love for the people chosen and them having the ability to get a first look at the game. I know this makes me somewhat of a internet hero for rolling with my boy Giles, but real recognize real and I can't let suckers ride for free.

Even though I'm relatively new to posting in this community and don't know all of the characters here; I can say that I think EA picked a good group of guys to go down. My only concern is that they were so enamoured with actually getting to see the game early that it may have clouded their judgement a little bit.

But then again, I'd probably be the same way. Just as long as they snapped out of it at some point (and judging by those review papers they each wrote, it looks like they did).

Did Ian speak of 2k5 at all down there? Like comparing a feature in this year's madden to 2k5?

I'd also like to point out, I didn't just critique equipment while I was down there, there were plenty of gameplay and presentation points I had feedback on.

Ian is right. I didn't pop in 2K5 once. And there is a good reason... I of course can't go into any specific detail, but I'll say that the gameplay feel in the build of Madden 10 I played was strong enough to keep my attention away from 2K5 and that's saying A LOT... and it was just an ALPHA so my anticipation for what the final is going to be is even higher now than before. I saw things in that build that if tuned just right in the final is going to make this game a monster and a serious relationship killer (i.e. you'll have to find a chick that likes playing Madden or watching you play it while you hog the controller, lol).

This game on the field is on the way up and it's undeniable, but what they do in this last two month stretch is VERY critical. It's a very delicate thread though; they're going to have to nail their majors strongly and make sure it's all air-tight and a lot of it is going to come down to how it's presented in the finished product.

Before I met them and talked to them face-to-face I might've been skeptical of them doing it, but after the fact I'm pretty much expecting that they will make it happen. I got a sense that they really are giving it their best shot. I've had interactions with other teams in other companies before and I didn't get that feeling at all, so this is a plus and it's currently translating positively to the game.

I don't expect perfection, but even on a game-winning drive you can throw some incompletions and still score and win the game... I just want this to be a win for everybody this year.
+1 what they do in these next two months will be crucial. If they nail some things the game will be a potential blockbuster.

You might be right about most guys, but you couldn't possibly be more dead wrong about the guys that came to play Madden 10. The X's and O's talked about there was at a very impressive level to say the least. I was just waiting for the telestrator to get wheeled in, lol. I certainly learned some new things.

I did play the game IRL, but I'm not as much of an X's and O's guy as a lot of the guys who showed up (but neither was Dan Marino, lol), but I can understand their explanations because I do understand the game enough to at least understand the language and dialect they're communicating. However, my area of "expertise" is for the history of the game of football, presentation, and animation outcomes and how they affect the overall picture/product (and I think those areas are quite valuable). And this allows me the ability to look at something be it a specific playcall, the way the play was called, when it was called, or the specific way a camera picked up a situation, and tell you what's wrong with it and what can be done to improve it, even if I'm not able to speak the exact technical jargon that was used to arrive at that point...

... In other words, if I understand what I'm seeing, and the person I'm talking to understands what I'm saying about what I'm seeing, then we can get things done and we certainly accomplished that at the event.

Everyone has a different part of this that they're best at, and I think EA did a great job with the selection process as I believe they covered all of their bases with their selections. They brought in strong X's and O's guys, strong presentation guys, and strong small detail guys. And if EA uses the feedback in the way that I know they will, you too will see in the final product why this was a great move.

This post right here is one of the realest posts I have seen on this site. This is really the only negative thing, if one perceives it as being negative at all, that can be said about those who went for the community day. Anything else is hating, and not of the good kind...

When has Madden ever not been a blockbuster?
